I only managed to get 45 minutes into the hour long special finale. And that took some doing. Missy is basically John Simm all over again. HATE. And not really liking what is being done with the Doctor either. Terrible. Moffat can do one. As they say.

I thought it was very good. A little contrived in the ending, perhaps, but enjoyed Missy and some of the shocks.

I thought that was pretty bad. Nonsensical, overblown poorly directed and lacking any tension.

She was great. It was excellent having a female version of the Master, and turned it into more of a sexual tension thing rather than men competing with each other.

I liked the false opening titles, and Missy was excellent. I felt a bit underwhelmed by the rest of it. Flying Cybermen look stupid, not scary (other than the 'Twilight Zone' reference on the plane). The idea of reanimating the world's corpses could have worked, but perhaps not by making them Cyberzombies.

They didn't explain how the 'Cyber-Zombies' were actually made though. That annoyed me.

The cloud was a 'cyber cloud' each part of the 'rain' was coded with what a cyberman was. Missy had altered the code so it would work on the dead.

There were a number of things they did well - i really liked the 'fake' opening with Jenna getting top billing and her eyes being used in the starfield

I thought the ending was really good. Neither the Doctor nor Clara get what they want. Both are unhappy but think the other is happy so don't say what they're actually thinking. The Doctor's reaction to not finding Gallifrey was really sad :'(

The ending of the Cybermen part was a bit hokey though.

So the Mistress' only strength is that nobody seems willing to actually do anything (useful) to restrain or prevent her from swanning about the place killing people, and her only weaknesses are deus ex machina that make the whole thing fall down at once?

Was the Master always like that?
