Anyone interested in one of these? Basically an internet 'fit club' in this form involves a group of either fit or unfit people as a way of chatting/logging your fitness progress from week to week. Each week (usually a Sunday or Monday) a new thread would be started and each participating user then details what kind of fitness they've been up to in the last week, along with any short or long term goals they're looking at.

For example, my entry might be:

STG: Lose 5 pounds
LTG: Run a 10 mile race and not come last.

Monday: Went to gym for 1hr
Tuesday: Sat on arse, ate awesome pizza at Pizza Express
Wednesday: Ran 5k
Thursday: Biked 10 miles to work
Friday: Stayed in bed all day.
Saturday: Lost will to live.
Sunday: Re-found will, made pasta.

Sort of a co-operative way of admitting how good/crap you are with a view to being slightly more motivated about things. If anyone thought this was a good idea, I guess we'd call this Week 1 and the first thread would kick off next Monday, and we'd review what we did this week, if anything.

Yes/no/banana?

I could be up for this. I want to start running, and I have lost a lot of weight in my arm I'll need to slowly build up.

Good stuff.

:this: , apart from I got it ages ago and it lives under the sofa. What I need is good old peer pressure.

Fruit cake is healthy right?

I think whiskey also counts for that. Also, tonic water stops you getting malaria, so drink a few G&Ts a day to be even healthier.

By then, Ragnorak Gnomes, my bottom will be so fleshy and blubberous that I won't feel it and it won't have an effect.

I would be interested in this, my jogging has died a death, but I feel, as pod said, that I require a jogging partner, rather than "wishy-washy emotional support!" :)

but I am getting a wiifit tomorrow also. Does it have online firends score motivation?

I'd be keen! I've been meaning to go jogging for ages but I find any excuse not to go..

It's too cold.. my iPod isn't charged.. I can't find my shoes.. I can't be bothered to change out of my jeans.. etc etc.

I couldn't be arsed doing exercise for exercise's sake. If it wasn't for skateboarding I'd be a right fat cunt, but it's fun so even if it was bad for me I'd still do it. When there's so many different things to try that are actually fun I don't know why people bother torturing themselves with stuff that they are only really doing for the sake of their health.

Indeed. I love exercising, but so rarely do it because I hate just jogging or doing exercise to get fit. Instead I play footy every week, and if anyone wants to throw a frisbee around then awesome, and Wii Fit seems to be a good laugh that has tired me out.

I just need to do all those things more often.

And stop eating crap.

This is why I started cycling to work. Partly for the exercise and partly to save money. I've made it part of my daily routine now, so it's actually just something I do, rather than boring exercise.

I find jogging quite enjoyable, actually. It helps if you have somewhere nice to run, of course.

But would you still do it if there were no health benefits? Is it fun like playing games is fun?

I used to cycle to work when I lived a bit nearer and it was feisable. Now if I wanted to cycle I'd have to find some way to get around the massive dual carriageway that forms the only direct route to work. Fuck knows if I could go down some back roads somewhere, but it would be a detour of miles I imagine, and I can't be arsed with all that.

All exercise for me has to be forced, because there's not much opportunity for it on a day-to-day basis. I'm off to the gym tonight, and then for my BOGOF pizza express c/o bargains thread.

I've also renewed my sub to motionbased.com, which speaks volumes about the amount of running I intend to do.

I disagree, and have removed you from my healthy eating newsletter - no more tips on "breakfasting with smarties" for you. Also cycling - where not involving huge detours - gives me a buzz for the rest of the day (and also allows me to enjoy getting the train, as I will today, all the more). Fun! Fun a go-go!

Very much that. I felt absolutely shattered when I woke up this morning as I'd stayed up quite late last night, but after a 40 min blast into work, I feel invigourated.

Argh!

Despite doing proper stretches and everything before footy on Wednesday, one particular movement I did trying to make a save appears to have tweaked both hamstrings and my left ass muscle.

It hurt a little at the time, quite a bit last night and OHMYGOD it hurts today.

:'(

Arse muscles are, er, buggers. I have great problems with mine - not sure whether I blame cycling or a fairly hilly cross country I did on Wednesday. Hurts like chuff, though.

Hmm. It is possible I am not equipped to comment. I will leave it at "it hurts" and "when I walk", for now.
