How about a second, other, further, non-replacement, additional, following, later boozy night out, somewhere more central, away from London? Say, in the Midlands?

We mooted Bristol, at one point.

Other meets have certainly been organised.

I was thinking Bristol, or I dunno, Birmingham. Since it's the easiest place for everyone to get to, travel-wise, and since that's the main issue really.

I think giving people enough notice is important too, and if there are a couple of BEEXers there that have sofas/floors people can crash on then so much the better.

I think you say this with the knowledge of what the Beardy Beer Club is, when there are some who would not know it is its own special thing. I can point to a few folk who have already lamented the distance in this very thread, sir. And as Craster agrees (I think - sorry if I'm misinterpreting), most people read most threads.

He wasn't being arsey - starting a thread would be a good idea to avoid confusion (and because it's free), and, more importantly, the BBC isn't 'special' in any way, it's a joke Craster and I made up because we both have beards. All are, and always have been, welcome. It's not a club, as we have taken pains to point out again and again and again.
Anyway, the last Beex meet was in Nottingham.

I think Bristol's an excellent choice for next time. We've had Nottingham (easy for northern and midland types to get to), London (Londoners and south/southeasterners), so a south west meet for the sheepshaggers and country bumpkins sounds about right.

Plus Mr Dave said we could all stay at his (sub please check).

Bristol works for me. I've got oodles of holiday time and nothing to do it with, so a few lovely days in Bristol would be an ace treat, personally. Myoptika or Craster or someone, can I ask you to please split out these posts then into a new topic? I didn't want to start one 'til I was sure it was welcome.

I'll have to see if I can clear my spare bed off so that someone could crash on that if they wanted - currently it has several consoles, 25+ joypads, a laptop and numerous cables but I'm sure that can be shifted somewhere. That and my sofa is pretty comfy too.

Similarly, I live quite close-by to Gaz & Chin, have a spare room and lots of floor space. There are also at least 13 pubs within easy walking distance of where I live, with absolutely no exaggeration inended

As for the next proper meet - anywhere is probably ok, as long as it's not too far away, so Oxford or Bristol (or Birmingham) would be fine.

I further the cause of Brizzle. Ideally, it would be Caerphilly, and we'd just go to the pub across the road and then the Chinese next door for chips, but I can't have everything.

I could possibly make Bristol work too depending on when it is.

Why not have the meet in Bath? Do a tour of famous Future locations? Go to the actual WH Smiths where Marcus (Hoover - Ed) handed out 100 quid worth of cash for some reason I can't remember. Go to the theatre where Dave Golder interviewed Sylvester McCoy for YS. Do the Trashman walk. Visit the house of Re(that's enough - Ed).

I think this is the best idea we've ever had. I commend it to the forum and propose that someone organise this meet forthwith. If we all pay 2 quid each, we could get a really nice bunch of flowers.

However, with current circumstances, whether I'd even be in Bristol when this happens is currently debatable. But I fI am, there would be more of a chance that I could accomodate a few people. We'll see.

Reading Mr. Dave's post I've just somewhat randomly realized that I was thinking of Brighton. Oh well - so, what's in Bristol then that's worth doing and seeing and stuff, should someone maybe go down there for a couple of days on holiday?
