Well, all of our money is caught up with the Icelanders at the moment, so we have about £20 until the end of the week :P Anyway, we just need that to tide us over with bread and milk at the moment until Friday. Keep meaning to get a microwave, so might treat ourselves to one when the non-Iceland money comes through on Friday, just to microwave some frozen mash.

So... it comes in pellets?

Quite. We had a £100 microwave, that died after 2 years. Our current £30-from-Argos-effort is still going after 12 months. Only downside is the heating is not at all even, and is more "central" than most microwaves. Doing patak's poppadoms in there results in little sombreros.

I think science would disagree. Are you sure it's not in your head?

Mash with lumps (or indeed, solid chunks) is horrific. Some mixes of textures is alright, but others aren't. As an example, I once had 'marshmallow salad' at a birthday party (I was eight). Lovely soft marshmallows mixed with JARRINGLY HARD CHUNKS OF FRUIT. It felt WRONG.

Aunt Bessie is okay... I don't buy pre-roasted stuff often at all (I prefer to make my own stuff) but I've not had any problems with her stuff. Though I do now want yorkshires.

Supervisor you say?

Quick, anyone with an Icesave account go round to Shin's house and take what you want. If he complains Gordon Brown will have him shot as a terrorist!

Sorry to hear that. My joke about Shin now seems a tad insensitive*.

Yes it comes in pellets. Is quite nice but probably quite fattening. Cheaper and nicer to make your own. I have a feeling Aunt Bessies is loaded up with butter.

Smash can be OK if made properly with butter.

Although it's his house, so Chinny would technically be right in that Gazchap would likely be the one complaining.

I find the best thing with the frozen mashed is that you don't get the lumps you can so easily get in 'normal' mashed. Also, even when it says on the packet - "One portion = six pellets", or however many - I always chuck a couple more on for greed luck.

What you need for lovely lump-free mash is a ricer:

No lumps ever.

Or, y'know, just mash it properly? Even better: Use a fork.

Since I never played you at snooker, I'll instead do you some Aunt B's mashed in my microwave, scrape it into a jiffy bag, and post it off to you.

I promise it shall be lump-free (though perhaps a tad cold and runny).

It's OK, not insensitive. It's actually not an Icesave account (neither Craig nor myself own an Icelandic ban account) but rather a company in Iceland are in debt to Craig for quite a large sum of money. They should have paid a week or so before all of the poo hit the fan in Iceland, but they have given us the run around for months and months. They delayed sending the payment fro reasons that they never actually explained and then said they'd send it on X day. That day, everything went tits up and now they won't give us any money, but it also meant that all of the money that I can access (which is not all of it because of all the fraud on my account when my replacement card and then my replacement replacement card were stolen from the post after I was mugged) has now been tied up in everyday maters such as rent, etc and we have about £20 to our names for the rest of the week, when Craig will get some other money due to him.

The Icelandic company have said 'well, we won't send it another way, it's not our fault that there's problems with the banks over here, mwah ha ha' yet we know they have American accounts with which they could pay. It's the equivalent of 'well, the cheque's in the post' It doesn't matter that they refuse to provide proof that it is or that it hasn't arrived, as far as they are concerned.

Anyway, trying not to dereail the thread further, there was a second thread [urlhttp://www.beexcellenttoeachother.com/forum/viewtopic.php?f=3&t=2125&hilit=iceland]here[/url] just in case anyone has any words of wisdom or any advice.

I could offer to send Mimi actual potatos from my garden. These can then be turned into mash by a complex scientific process, which I don't fully understand.
However, it is the only way to send perfect mash by post that I'm aware of.
