:this: :this: :this: :this: :this:

Pirate Lego came out when I was about 13 IIRC, that dangerous age where you stupidly believe you're too old for Lego, even though you can never be too old for Lego. Now I'd really like some, but they've stopped making it, the bastards! You'd think with the success of the Pirates Of The Carribean movies in recent years, they'd be falling over themselves to make some cash out of it.

Some of that Lego Pirate stuff looked really decent too... :'(

Not their licence.

If the kids will buy anything as long as it's the latest cool thing, you may as well just make fewer more expensive sets, reducing your manufacturing costs, because you know they'll move onto the next 'in-range' before they run out of sets to buy.

Good job you don't work in marketing or sales, mate. :ninja:

You will not regret doing this, at all. It's very much worth the effort. Also write down a brief summary of the facts - as if you forget the name, you can still get marks for referring to it as "that case with the beavers and the thing"

Comical - cheers, chap!

I've just finished reading a book about the American War of Independence. At one point, an officer pops up with the utterly splendid name of "Captain Forbes Champagne". I have now decided that my first born son will also be named that.

Last night I was in bed, drifting off to sleep on my back with my left arm by my side and my right arm 'above' my head, near the head of the bed. As I was just entering sleep and about to fall into a deeper sleep my right arm above my head shot straight up into the air, waking me up. Before I could regain control of my muscles my arm relaxed and collapsed and my hand smacked me plain in the face.

I had dreamt that I was playing Boom Blox and was flicking the Wii remote at the TV.

Someone in my land law lecture (a bloke) had a t-shirt on that on the back said "It burns when I PVP" so that's a wee related injury?

Job cuts at Dyson

My brother in law is a design engineer there. Excellently, they won't find out 'til Christmas who goes and who stays. Fucksake. Lovely couple of months for them, then, wondering if they'll still have enough money to pay the mortgage, and look after three kids including one severely disabled son.

Ballsacks.

Fuck, they're doing it like this in the hope that staff jump ship ahead of the redundancies, saving them a bit of money. I hope lots of key staff members go and leave them in the shit. :(

It's now part of UK employment law, I believe, that there is a defined process for redundancies - announcing that there will be redundances, followed by a statutory period of consultation to 'examine alternatives to redundancies', before they then decide who stays and who goes.

Still - he's been there a while, right? Long enough to get a decent package if they make him redundant?

That kind of thing strangles firms though, because it's the brightest and best that jump ship.

The job market is fucking awful at the moment, though, so none or very few of them are likely to jump ship.

Still, he was going to leave last year, and they offered him scads of cash to stay on, so I'm hopeful he'll not be made redundant.

Well, that certainly seems hopeful. Perhaps he should ask his manager whether he's likely to be made redundant?

@ Craster - yes, that is indeed the legally-mandated procedure, but the advance warning isn't two and a half months.

The warning and consultation period are on a sliding scale depending how many jobs are to go. I agree that two and a half months would be excessive, mind.

I see we're only 2 weeks from the release of Capcom's MotoGP 08 which, praise Jebus, actually has the 125 and 250 classes rather than the exceptionally retarded "OMG EXTREME" mode of Climax's offerings.

STOP BREAKING THE BANANA SYSTEM!

What kind of world would this be where people could just go around breaking the banana system.

Anyway, if you want a top Banana rating then suitable names are Count Duckula, Kojack, Spider Dog or Craster.

I'm not from fucking Telford! Beyotch! I just live there. Is not my sheer glass and grace, far beyond that of any mere Telfordite, obvious beyond a shadow of a doubt? Does my not my obvious superiority shine forth with a staggering intensity beyond anything you've ever seen in Telford :P

(I'm from between Cannock and Walsall, which is worse)
