Meaty jogged my memory about this game when mentioning Mean 18 (all will become clear).

Does anyone remember the game Go Getter? I used to play it when I was quite young when we first got our Amiga. I know it's Amiga Public Domain stuff, but I've not been able to find it anywhere in adf format to use it with WinUAE. It might not be a great game, but I used to play it with my mum a lot (the same as Mean 18) and she actually asked me if it was still available to play a few months ago! If anyone has a copy or knows where to find it, I'd be eternally grateful. :)

This?

That suggests it was available on a 17 Bit disk. Apparently collections of these can be [imported]. Might take a bit of effort getting them all and searching for this one game though.

I think you don't really need to use euphemisms for downloading public domain software.

Going by the price (£3.50) I reckon 17-Bit were probably kicking back some money to the author for each copy sold -- so I'm not sure if it'll be in any 17-Bit collection you might find. However I've got pretty much all the 17-Bit PD CDs currently sitting on my PC so as soon as I can work out how to boot them up in WinUAE I'll have a dig and see if I can find Go Getter.

EDIT: "Licenceware", that's the word I was thinking of.

I've had a very quick dig through the 17-Bit CDs and unfortunately I can't find any AMOS licenceware there.

I've had a quick look at Weird Science's AMOS PD CD and couldn't find anything there either :/

For what it's worth, another AMOS Licenceware game from around the same time, 4-Way Lynx, is part of the main TOSEC set so as Go-Getter isn't I assume that means nobody's transferred it from Amiga floppy yet.

Online it seems this is still the case I did find a review

http://amr.abime.net/amr_popup_picture. ... ize=348419

You might just be stuck until someone with it on a real disk transfers it over and the longer it goes on the less likely that is to happen :-(

It seems to be disk "LPD11" or "APD248" - i'm at work so cant look on any 'shady' places to find it but I will try tonight

This place http://www.amigapd.com/amospdmusic.html has it listed and seems to offer downloads of the disks but I cant see where ?

APD248 is here : http://cd.textfiles.com/amospd/226-250/APD248/

But i'm not sure if thats just a demo disk using images from the game rather than the game itself ?

It looks like a copy of the files 'from the disk' rather than the image if you look in /s/startup you can see it runs :

pic
run c:muz
wait 3
mostra :iff/* C A R Q B SECS 5 FADE 2 N F DB

Which runs those files , I *think* this is just a music demo using stuff ripped from the game but I'd need to check at home - thats ADP248 so I think it will be a case of trying to find "LPD11" (which most searching throws up a US ship with that name)

I did also find this

http://disks.back2roots.org/17bit.html

Which is an archive of a large number of 17bit freeware titles but there are hundreds and the search does not seem to be working correctly (nothing called go getter or go-getter but that does not mean its not actually there)

I think I know the feeling, there's several Amiga PD games and other software I'd love to track down and play/use again with the help of emulation, but the .adf images never emerge whenever I do another search every 6 months or so. That and the fact that Amiga emulation is notoriously awkward to use.

(Anyone else feel like having an Official Amiga PD software nostalgia thread?)

Amiga emulation is never 'easy' but its in a much better state than it has been before - and you can grab a checked 'archive' of virtually everything amiga out there which is around 30 gb or so - I have it on DVD's from a few years back but its regularly updated so if there is something your looking for there are probably people here who can find it and help you get it emulated.

Nearly sure that Sys (the Pengo-alike set inside a computer) was on an Amiga Format cover disk in 1989 or 1990. Possibly an ST/Amiga Format cover disk too. Hope that might help.

Brill, thank you! The only problem now is that I can't get any of the function keys to work at the initial menu. I've tried fn+F8, fn+cmd+F8, F8 on its own (which starts playing songs from iTunes, ta). Bah! Is there any way to bind keys? I can't see it in the settings.

Well, that's unplayable as an A1200. I switch it to the A500 and the function keys work properly too.

The very thought of a Take that/Metallica/Lou Reed collaboration makes my skin crawl.
