I actually thought the Ch4 remix of the meme, leading to an actual showing of the film, was quite clever.

If they hadn't mentioned the actual name of the film and kept it alluding to a documentary then fair enough. But naming it just took all the humour out for me. I understand why they did it though.

Final episode of the season of Mr Robot was a little underwhelming, but I think only because the rest of the season set the bar so high.

They have already confirmed they're doing a season 4.

Started Mr.Robot S03 two days ago, and despite not enjoying S02 (it was too convulted), S03 seems to be on the right track. Only saw the first two episodes

ZOMG Spoiler! Click here to view!
it was a shame the swedish lady got killed because she was so pretty, but it was a good thing because her story took too much time on S02

I really enjoyed it but then the entire season has been great stuff in the main. I especially enjoyed the post-credits scene because that guy was responsible for my favourite moment in s01 and probably a top 10 scene in any TV.

Yeah I didn't mean to say it was a bad ending, but the best episodes of the season were the ones in the middle.

We watched "Godless" on Netflix. It's a western thing, it's sort of ok but fuck me whoever made it must really love horses. So many tedious, lingering shots of them and scenes where people are fucking around with them or gazing longingly into their eyes. Anyway 6/10 probably rising to 9/10 if you want to fuck horses.

I watched an episode and a half and gave up. Rave reviews out there for it but I just found it tedious.

Don't blame you but I think it was just about worth sticking with for the pay off. Certainly a better investment of time than The Walking Dead.

There's a new Jean Claude Van Damme series on Amazon Prime and the first episode is pretty great. Kinda self aware, and a nice blend of comedy and action.

The highlight were the scenes of floki in Iceland. His story is probably over, but what a way to finish it. Great moment

Mr. Robot EP3

Really smart of the writers on how they put the Trump election conspiracy into the story but with chinese instead. Very eager to watch the rest.

Since the season has ended, now is a good time to recommend the movie Comet, by the creator of Mr Robot. You can see an early form of the style he eventually developed into Mr Robot, and I guess it's more of a romantic comedy, with a slight sci-fi backdrop. It's got lots of snappy dialogue, and it's a bit magical.

I gather in his head he was going to make a loose trilogy of movies, but in the end what was going to be the second one developed into Mr Robot as a TV series. There's no shared characters or anything, and even though the themes are pretty different, his approach to dealing with those themes is fairly similar.

Finished Dexter with two days to spare!

It definitely did drag on a bit towards the end but I quite like how it ended in the final episode.

Started watching the Flash tonight with the kids, as for some reason our "local multiplex" is buffering like a cunt and we couldn't watch Lego Batman.

Its really quite good, especially considering it's DC.

Jesus, I strongly suspect your local multiplex has some very significant latency concerns.

Odd, as I was watching atomic blonde day before yesterday and it was fine....

Does the internet slow down over a distance then?

Your multiplex updated yesterday.

Is this a regular thing since you got to Singapore?

Sure. The data still has to travel over (mostly) physical wires. Something like streaming video which is mostly one-way transfer of data would be less noticeably affected than something interactive like gaming, but the latency still has an impact.

Well that's just weird then as online gaming is largely fine, as is Netflix or whatever, but plex is just unusable

Two of those things will be coming from world-wide CDNs with nodes near Singapore. They don’t have to cross the planet. The other one is someone’s broadband in Bedford.

We don't have a Canadian TV thread so this will do. Letterkenny is a sitcom set in the titular town which is populated with idiots and weirdos. The dialogue is the star, being so dense and quickfire that it's possible to miss half the jokes on first watching. Also: the lead female character is stupidly cute, especially from the second season onwards.

These two short clips are pretty representative.

Lol, apologies. I obviously didn't notice your post at the time and I assumed it was so obscure that no one else would ever have posted about it so I didn't bothered doing a search; which I'm usually very good about.

Anyway, there you go: a recommendation from Bamba and Hearthly surely can't be ignored?

That's like Barry Norman and Roger Ebert really going for something, except a Norman+Ebert combo who like videogames as well, which gives their opinions extra street cred with the cool kids.

The US Attorney's wife is lovely. And Billions is a great show despite, as you say, the majority of the characters being complete arseholes.

The Sinner on Netflix has managed to drag us in pretty well. It's an interesting premise, an ordinary lady unexpectedly goes berserk during a family trip to the beach and stabs some apparently random man to death. Nobody has any idea why but policeman Bill Pullman wants to find out. After a couple of episodes we were both saying that it was really good but also that it could easily go wrong if it went off in too stupid of a direction. Anyway watched a couple more last night and it's all coming together nicely.
