Accounts I have heard rate ep3 as significantly better than the first two.

I never recommended Discopathe as a good film. I've checked the archives, I said it took my mind off the vasectomymageddon ruin that was my cock and balls at the time, and as such was worth watching on those terms.

If all your entire genital area has delivered to you for an extended period of time is pain, misery and persistent bleeding, then something like Discopathe can seem to be pretty damn good.

I wish it wasn't a police procedural. I like lots about it but there are other formats for a TV show.

God, XFiles was awful. I've been re-watching the original serieseses, and am half way through series 2. The new writers clearly struggle with non-stilted and non-Basil Exposition dialogue.

:this:

It seemed quite entertaining, but really likely to be a big waste of a fun premise.

I'm not sure it could really be described as a police procedural. At least that's not what I've understood that term to mean. I quite like shows where some stories get wrapped up in a single episode rather than massive long sprawling things, where huge elements end up being a pointless waste of time.

Oh, I have no objection to one-episode plot arcs, but I can't help but think you can do more with the devil retired on Earth than have him helping the police solve crime of the week. I suspect the Luke Cage stuff may provide a more overarching plot of sorts, but I'm still concerned it will lack much in the way of interest other than a few laughs.

I'm guessing that some of the Heaven\Hell stuff will be explored as a longer plot theme though?

Can't just see them putting the Devil in a show as a detective and leaving it there?!

Yeah, I know what you mean but if the writing maintains the standard in the opener then I reckon we'll keep watching.

Wait, what? I though Lucifer was from the Sandman comics? Even then, they're not putting the DC name on it, so I can't see how a Marvel character can get involved.

I was going to say I didn't remember them looking like the same person, but I haven't seen Buffy in a while.

In other Buffy-related news, I went to see Spotlight last night and spent the whole film convinced that Rachel McAdams was actually Emma Caulfield.

New X-Files episode 2 is incrementally better than episode 1 which is to say that it is still terrible and often embarrassing telly viewing. Something started to irritate me about Mulder's voice today and a scene where he had rerecorded his voice over the original. Maybe it was due to background noise or something that he had to rerecord his speaking part, but his voice throughout is a little off putting.

But this time I could not help but compare the acting to be on part with Days of our Lives or a straight to TV movie made by SyFy, like Sharknado vs Hipposaurus or some shit. Whatever the level of acting ability on display it sure is painful to watch.

Not been very impressed by it so far though, yes, episode 2 was a slight improvement on episode 1.
According to the Guardian (who reviewed the first 3 episodes), episode 3 is "one of the best The X-Files has ever done." ( http://www.theguardian.com/tv-and-radio ... w-episodes ).

Got it on the hard drive to watch tomorrow. It had better be a vast improvement on the previous episodes though or I doubt I'll bother with the rest of the series, despite "nostalgia" and Gillian Anderson still being pretty foxy etc...

I've just watched episode 3 as well and IT WAS MUTHAHUFFIN BRILLIANT!

I laughed a fair few times; the jokes, the costume, the telling of the story, Scully's look when she picked up the dog and her boobage. Dayyum, that boobage. She's so good at acting too. So very good. I bet she could do comedy. I'd love to see her in a comedy like Jennifer Aniston in Bad Bosses. Just cause... Anyway, whatshisface was a little better which is to say that he's really not that great. Seriously though, wearing all leather, swearing and being overtly sexual, that'd be so, funny? Yeah, funny. And maybe topless. Ok, ok, not topless but in a nice bra. And stockings. God I'm so lonely.

Anyhoo, why didn't they ditch episodes 1 & 2 and just start with this? It was ace.

Having watched the second episode of Lucifer, the format really is holding it back imo. There is a great deal to like about it, but I think I am going to have to check out if it is just about solving a murder every week.
