Yep. It's taken a huge turn for the better.

Me to, but I'm still on S01. It's pretty average right now - when do I get my magical upturn?

The last few seconds of Season 1 were like "Whhhaaaaaaaaaaaaat?"

The latest episode of Sons of Anarchy was utterly ludicrous. I'm half expecting the next one to be an animated musical episode.

Speaking of ludicrous, the last 2 episodes of Castle have been parallel universes and wild west.

And it's still awesome.

Which one? Cause I watched the one after the kid's big reveal and thought it was pretty decent with some half decent performances (for a change).

Really?
We've put Castle on hold as it's all so samey, but that sounds like a laugh.
Is there any story arc this season, or is it all stand alone eps?

So I'm nearly there - halfway through the last episode.

Two things:

a) They only just thought of deorbiting the Ark? That never crossed their mind before now?

and
ZOMG Spoiler! Click here to view!
b) They can bring it down with near-pinpoint accuracy and it never crossed their mind before now?

Pah.

There is an arc but saying what some of it is about may be spoilers if you have not watched any of it (spoiler below) - however they are doing things to try and avoid it being samey and yes the last 2 were great (add in the invisible / Devil one as well for fun)

ZOMG Spoiler! Click here to view!
The start of the season opens many months after castle has gone missing and about his discovery - there are then a few about the fact he was a willing participant in what happened to him but has amnesia so cant remember

There are stand alone stories but that seems to be the arc they return to - what happened that pulled him away / why / and why was he a part of it

Bit of a crowded genre these days, Supernatural, Grim, Sleepy Hollow, not to mention all the Vampire and Werewolf specific shows.

Its all about viewing figures, during a bit of a TV quiet period we started watching Bitten a show about Werewolf's, its ok ands its got a 2nd season, its not as good as Constantine though.

I thought the story got quite a bit darker and more involved from not far after there, then s2 has been quite a step change in plot.

Aquarius looks promising coming March 2015

Quote:
1960s-based cop drama starring David Duchovny as a detective investigating Charles Mason, before his Manson Family cult famously killed seven people.

With help from a young partner, Duchovny's character will take part in a "complicated undercover operation" of Manson's group, though it won't get to the Manson family's murder spree until later seasons.

For the first one, it's not that they had to wait - they'd decided to go. Then they stood around not knowing how to do it.

You need some plotholes to get the storyline going.

So it looks like Preacher is finally a thing...

Whether or not we ever get to see it is another thing altogether though.

Someone in the comments on that link appears to be suggesting Cillian Murphy should play Cassidy. I can't think why anyone would even suggest that.

Paul Kaye or somebody. Not Bez-cheeked Murphy.

Finished watching the first series of "The Strain" last night...disappointing to say the least, nearly every character is dull as dishwater (Crying Woman, Big Bad Business man type) or just flat out annoying (leading man Doctor fellow...and his idiot child...and crying woman's mum), apart from David Bradley and the Rat Catching man.

Oh and I'm sure all super genius hackers look like super models.

Verdict: Silly but not in a good way.

Sons of anarchy finale was ok. Most stuff was tied up well enough and it was a fitting end, but there were no surprises. Everything happened pretty much as you would expect.

I'm getting towards the end of series 1 of The 100, and it's not bad. It's a bit more visceral and surprising than you'd expect by the initial chintzy american-ness and beautiful people.

I thought there was some odd almost supernatural bits at the end, was an OK ending. Thing it had the least killings for the entire season in this episode as well!

Sure they could keep it running as well if they wanted to.

Yeah, but it is based on hamlet, so there has always been a bit of a ghost theme throughout. It's been subtle, but they ramped it up a little for the last episode. The homeless woman is basically the ghost from hamlet, and appears to both gemma and jax when momentous things are happening, or choices need to be made. Only they can see her, I think.

TV Show started based on The Librarians films

Not surprisingly its called The Librarians :DD

3 episodes out so far, not watched it yet but the films were ok if not a bit low budget. A TV show should be ok though

We'd not see any of the TV Movies but downloaded the first couple of episodes of huge series and thought it was ok. Light Sunday afternoon family entertainment, but that has it's place.

Looks to be a release of The Wire on the NG in 720p with most episodes around 1.5GB

Best I could ever find was SD at around 800MB

First 2 seasons out over the last few days, so hopefully a season a day will be released.

Was aware there are plans for a Blu Ray release of this show in 2015 so not sure if this is an early leak or if its been around for a while and I missed it.

Good quality and they display at 16:9 without having to stretch on my XBMC

It's a remaster (as The Wire was never filmed in HD), but apparently it looks "okay".

One of the Amazon Prime pilots due for launch later in the month is an ACW drama ('Point of Honour'). A large number of re-enactors I know in the US were extras in it*, so might look into giving Prime a trial if it works on the Roku. Other than that, I know little about it.

*Thankfully, I'm not aware of that ('estranged friend' - Ed.) being involved so if I do watch it I won't feel as awkward as I did watching another major streaming-only show last year

More importantly than that, the aspect ratio has changed -- from 4:3 to 16:9. David Simon was involved, though, and says that some shots look better and some look worse, as you'd expect. But overall he wasn't unhappy.

This is better than the hack job that is SyFy's broadcasts of Buffy in widescreen. They literally just took the 16x9 production footage and broadcast it. There are crew members visible in the screen edges in some shots. Joss Whedon was hella-angry on Twitter.

In the early years of widescreen tellies I used to get really annoyed by people just watching everying in fattyvision rather than switching to 4:3. Still irks me today but most sets switch automatically. Clip shows are now the worst offender but some are getting better.

Loving watching the Wire, looks as good as any other 720p stuff

Found there are a few of these episodes missing on the NG is S4 and S5, but don't have to worry about that for a while!

I tried Boardwalk Empire, but it's just a bit too nudity based to watch on a busy train, really.
