Watched the first episode of Daredevil and enjoyed it. Still can't quite get my suspension of disbelief into the fight scenes as yet, but I'm sure we'll get there.

They do cover how come he has such mad skills later on, it's an origin story but it's not told in a totally linear fashion. I really like how realistic the fight scenes are, I can't remember the first episode specifically, but later on you see him get tired in the middle of fights, and resorting to more of a brawl type fighting when he loses his temper.

The fight scene at the end of episode 2 is fantastic.

ZOMG Spoiler! Click here to view!
as I suspected, it was an intentional homage to Old Boy. A really good one. If you're paying attention it's not hard to spot the seams between cuts, but it's still a really well done fight scene. I enjoyed it more than anything in any of the Marvel movies, except for maybe the final encounter with Ronan in GOTG.

I watched another episode of Gotham and it is really hard not to laugh at how bad it is after having watched Daredevil. It does some things well, but it is a bad show overall.

The fights are really quite excellent - and I really like the way they weave the origin stories into the various episodes.

The actor’s actually blind, isn’t he?

Ah, it was a badly written guardian article that was complaining about how it isn't shown with audio descriptions for the blind, and they made some comment about someone being registered blind and it read like they meant the actor.

The first episode of the new series of Silicon Valley was brilliant; much funnier than I even remember the previous series being.

Over half the way through Daredevil and it's been excellent so far.

Is it wrong to be cheering on Wilson Fisk and his progressive vision for the city? I look forward to the his meetings with his associates more than the next fight scene at the moment.

Having said that I really enjoyed the Stick episode, especially when he said...

How many series of Justified did they do? I only got to the end of the second one.

Other things I've had recommended to me recently are Fortitude and The Last Man on Earth; both of which look pretty good and have reviewed well. Also they're both 10-12 episodes a series rather than some stupid fuckload which makes it more likely I will watch them at some point.

Fortitude was too slow for me. Decent enough, but I think I made it 6/7 episodes in and still didn't really know what was going on. I don't expect to be spoonfed everything from the word go, but it felt like it was all tease and no trouser.

Who told me I should be watching Unbreakable Kimmy Schmidt?

Does it get good, or do I just not like it? I've watched half of it.

Finished Season Two of Dexter last night and up to now I'm loving it, even if it does require a substantial suspension of disbelief.

ZOMG Spoiler! Click here to view!
I actually felt sorry for Doakes, and Dexter's decision that he was going to go through with the framing reduced my liking of Dexter himself, however much you can like a serial killer to start with, that is.

Nice twists on his backstory with Harry and the suicide and all that.

Debra's taste in men continues to be remarkably bad.

PSYCHO LILA really was proper psycho, great character well written and acted.

Just very good overall really, loved Debra's line when she walked in on Dexter in his bedroom with all the candles around the place - 'Are you trying to fuck her or set her on fire?'

Roll on Season Three! Which I will be starting this evening as soon as Hearthly Jnr has gone upstairs.

Watched the first episode of 'Portlandia' for the first time last night. Great fun: reminded me a lot of the 'League of Gentleman'.

I am watching Penny Dreadful, and it is pretty good.

It's a bunch of characters from classic horror literature thrown together. Reminds me a little of The League of Extraordinary Gentlemen actually. It's pretty dark, has a good cast, and takes some interesting unexpected turns

Recommended.

I watched Penny Dreadful when it first came out, but got bored of it after a while. Same for Hemlock Grove (although that did have the best werewolf transformation I've seen in a long time).

Is Penny Dreadful the one with Dorian Grey in it? If so he reminded me of Malabar.

Or it may have been the Dorian Gray from the film. But I think it was from a series. All blurred.

I watched a few episodes of the first series of that. I decided I must have been watching something else to the world. It seemed pretty dull to me, albeit dull with a lot of style.

I found the first series hard work. Slow and felt like meticulously observed style over dramatic substance.

However, from series 2 I thought it really picked up, and it gets gradually weirder and funnier as it goes on. Would happily replace my father with Roger Sterling.

I never saw the first series. We watched what turned out to be S3, thinking it was the start and got confused because nobody was introduced properly (as of course, they wouldn't be being two years in), then bought S2 on DVD and got more confused jumping back a year.

I might go back and track down S1 at some point.

Agents of SHIELD is totally my favourite thing on telly at the moment.

The recent additions to the cast of the likes of Kyle McLachlan, Nick Blood, Edward James Olmos et al have all been awesome, and the existing characters are all now far better defined.

Been on holiday last week so the TV shows are building up. Plan to save the rest of Mad Man until the end of the season then binge on it!

Started watching American Crime which is a really good show.

Star Wars Rebels is surprisingly violent for a kid's show.

Anybody watched Powers? Just downloaded S1 (10 episodes)

"Powers is set in a world full of people with superhuman abilities and where all of those powers are just another catalyst for mayhem and murder. The series follows Detective Christian Walker, who is in charge of protecting humans like us and investigating cases involving the God-like men and women, referred to as Powers, who glide through the sky on lightning bolts and fire and who clash above cities in epic battle, oblivious to the mortals below."

I watched the first episode and thought it was awful.

A great cast and probably a decent amount of money wasted on a dull and badly written script.

Drinking game: Drink a shot for every time a character says "Powers"
