Sorry to hear of all your eggbox woes, Myoptika - how are you coping? Craig keeps looking forlornly over to the spot where the XBox usually sits. It is now a sad and empty space.

Haha! I didn't see that info when I searched! mind I sort of gave up reading!

It's not quite as stupid, because when your Gold expires you are supposed to revert back to Silver. This happened to me, last time my sub expired I left it a week or so before I renewed. In the interim period I could play offline games, see what my friends were doing, and so on as normal. When I was ready I tapped the prepaid card number in and off I went.

Whatever is wrong with your account is something different.

Yeah, it was suspended completely. It's fixed now (according to billing.microsoft.com), so I should be able to use my code tonight.

I still can't believe I managed to get through to Xbox Customer Services' one decent operator.

True, after getting really irate at the horrid man trying to get to an operator (to report RROD), I relised the voice recognition doesn’t work at all over a mobile phone (I was shouting “RED FUCKING RING” and he would just ask me to repeat to the point of me throwing my phone across the room. Then tried with a land line; he then understood me and make me feel stupid.

The opertator was the best operator ever. I’ve never had a shit MS phone operator. Compared to my bank and any other service this is amazing!

It is an expired card I'm trying to remove (otherwise it would've been charged on the expiry date of my sub).

itsallwater: I've tried to add it via live.xbox.com and billing.microsoft.com. I cannot add it via my 360 as you have to be signed in to Live in order to do this (clever system).

I'm still getting "Can't redeem your code. Please try again." I'm not getting anywhere here.

I just went there, the option you want is "Use a different payment method" when you click on the expired card. Worked fine, although not the most obvious interface.

You'll probably find your gamerscore set back to zero when you log in. ;)

Excellently, the code worked. However, I've logged into billing.microsoft.com and now my expiry date is 08/10/2010. I have no idea what they're up to...

Yep, let's just see if I get that call about having my cards removed now.

When a card doesn't go through, it still keeps you on Gold for a while as they re-try it. 2010 probably equals 1 year on the card, and one year on the pre-pay. In a few weeks they'll probably tell you off for having an invalid card (the one you changed the date on?). It's a confusing system, but I'm lazy and just let mine auto-renew.

Ok, so I got a call today from one of the helpdesk supervisors who's removed both of my cards from the system. However, the caveat is that I can't use either of those cards with any Microsoft products again! One of them's expired, but doesn't that strike you as a little odd?

They probably had to do something drastic like list them as stolen or something stupid like that.
