I'm sorry, but since when was Bulma a kick-ass gun-toting bitch???

Or Goku a non-asian for that matter?

Or Piccolo a reject from some Buffy/Hellboy/Blade knock-off project?

*epic facepalm*

DRAGONBALL and DRAGONBALL Z!!!

My most favourite anime ever, ever, EVER!

Except....the movie is gonna be shite. They should have just done an anime movie-not like the one's they have already done though as they are all bloody awful :S

VEGETA IS THE BEEEEEEST! I wish they were doing a DBZ one instead :( although Bulma is freaking ace :D

I have never seen Dragonball Z. Please tell me Vegeta is an evil vegetarian kung-fu warlord out to destroy all meat-eaters in his quest to market the ultimate quiche.

So Vegeta is working for the side of Light, not Darkness now? Or is it all an evil Vegeta trap to lure the good guys into thinking he's reformed? 8) :o

Ahhh. The classic Japanese/comic book tradition of taking an excellent bad guy/girl and then tediously reforming them so everything you liked about their misanthropic evil bastardy has been stripped away and you find you can no longer return to cheering on their malice gleefully, culminating terrifyingly in the hideous Sailor Moon which I suffered as I cooked tea in the kitchen/lounge when an obsessive uni-housemate watched and cheered as baddie after baddie were inexplicably reformed at the end of each episode as if were some sort of creepy Victorian-era manga where young girls in petticoats are sent to Borstal and reformed ad nauseum. ("I approve," - J M Barrie & Charles Dodgeson)

And also key film-mangaling (sic) feature as to why my favourite director alive in the world today Hayao Miyazaki made a rage inducing mess at the last possible minute of what up to that point was a seriously entertaining film in Howl's Moving Castle...
ZOMG Spoiler! Click here to view!
when evil empress woman suddenly decides in five minutes flat that she was wrong all along and should buy cake for everyone after firebombing several hundred Dresdens in a gripping horror-of-war tale.

Edited to explain why I was in the presence of this. Of course, he made up for it later by introducing me to Cowboy Bebop, one of the bestest cartoons ever made.

It isn't really like that in DBZ, the baddies are very rarely reformed and even the good guys get killed, which is why I like it. Fairy tales are a crock of shit so people should realise that the good guy doesn't always win :)

Plus Vegeta is still badass and mean...I loves him and wants to like his face :p

The original Dragonball series was a fairly charming little romp.

Then Dragonball Z came out and made absolutely no sense and was entirely angry looking musclemen scowling, smirking and grunting at each other for entire episodes while everyone else watched and debated whose power was more powerfuller (or over nine thousaaaaaaaaand). And it was arse.

Not quite as arse as this movie looks, mind you.

The original Dragonball is completely excellent, a true anime classic with some brilliant off-the-wall characters. Z(ee) isn't bad, but it stretches bits out over far too many episodes. And GT... was a series too far, to be honest. :'(

But I must admit to prefering anime like this and this these days.

Damn!

At least it afforded a pleasing pun-twist on an internet catchphrase, and thence the humour arose.

Dragonball = Anime adaptation of Journey to the West. Or as its more commonly known over here, Monkey! Good fun.

Dragonball Z = confusing mish-mash, where fights last six episodes... or more. Really really stupid storylines

Dragonball GT = Dunno, never saw it.

Cowboy Bebop = one of the few anime series that stands up to critical appraisal. Bloody good fun, too. I keep meaning to have a look at Samurai Champloo, too.

Indeed. The pig character who spends half the series wearing a pair of Bulma's panties on his head was excellent.

It wasn't quite as off-the-wall as the marvellous Samurai Pizza Cats, but it was close.

I hate the art style for DBZ... all stupid smug smirks with giant eyebrows makes you want to smack them all in the face. Except you'd have to build up your power for seven episodes first, and even after punching them through 3 mountains, they'd only be slightly scratched.
