I wonder if anyone can help us.. At work we want to put a new website up at http://www.rurallink.co.uk. The website has been made by the design company and has been outsourced to (I don't know who) to actually put it on the Internet.

Now, I don't really understand what's happening here but they are saying that even though the address has been purchased, we can't put the website on it because it's not working. They have suggested we buy a different address and use that instead.

Now, since the site has been made.. and the name purchased, shouldn't it be relatively simple to have it just "work"?

Yes. As owners of the domain you can change the DNS servers to point wherever you like for the hosting, and then use that hosting to configure the domain more specifically, with email and web, etc.

Looking at the whois, the domain is fine. Where is the site to be hosted? All you need to do is change the nameservers with your domain registrar (1 and 1) to whoever is hosting the site. They should be able to sort it from there.

-Edit- or keep the nameservers with 1 and 1 and change the A, TXT, CNAME records with them (I'm of course assuming that they have a similar kind of CP to 123-reg).
