My team leader from work submitted a friend request, and the first thing she did every day when she came in was nag me about having not accepted yet.

I'm amazed how many people use Facebook in their lunch breaks - you'd think there were no other websites out there. There have been a few times when they've complained to me that their site is slow... not quite sure what they expect me to do about it.

That's my main problem with 'social networking' (bleauurhrgh) sites. There's nothing to actually do. At least livejournal and so on give you something to actually talk about - yeah, loads of it is shit, but there are enough funny or interesting people on there to give you at least something to talk or think about or just read and enjoy. With facebook and Myspace and all that, all that ever seems to happen is people sticking up a picture and other people going "omg u hott babe txt me ok lookin fine" or "lol u wer drnk 2 nite!!!!", and then that's it. If several people I know didn't insist on using it to host pictures and share news, I'd be off there in an instant. I don't get what's wrong with email/msn for talking to people.

I think it's great that I've found my best friend from school after losing touch six years ago, and am now able to invite him to my wedding.

This morning I logged into my ICQ account for the first time in god knows how many years. It still works. I even have one online friend!

You can also add people to your "foe" list, so you don't see their posts.

Top tip - If you add everyone to the list the forum's a much quieter and serene place, sort of like a Zen meditation in blue.

It also looks like you're talking to yourself, but I'm actually doing that most of the time anyway.

I often assume I'm on quite a few foe lists.
Either that, or I'm not as funny as I sometimes think I am.

So if using a foe list ignores a person's posts, does putting someone on your friend list highlight all their posts so they stand out twice as much or something?

I have just added you as a friend, joans, and your posts appear 50% funnier than they did a moment ago, so perhaps that's the difference? The fact I'm actually reading them now may or may not account for some or all of this increase though.
