All game-movies stink, and all films look good in trailers. But what the hell, I'm an optimist, so fingers crossed for this one:

I liked Silent Hill, Resident Evils one and two, and (a bit) the first Tomb Raider film.

So there.

What was the first ever video game movie? Was it Super Mario Brothers?

I'm still waiting for the sequel to that ;)

Certainly that's first on this list. My brother had the soundtrack CD specifically for the Extreme track on there. 8)

I've not seen Silent Hill, I understand it's OK. Resident Evil I enjoyed enough to watch a second time one rainy afternoon but even a Celebrity-Skin pleasing flash of Jovovich's muff can't elevate it beyond being "alright". Tomb Raider was pants though.

Nevertheless, I stand corrected, they clearly don't all stink.

The second Tomb Raider was execrable, but the first was "ok", largely due to the bungy fight and Chris Barrie's gurning.

If we're counting animation, Street Fighter 2: The Animated Movie and Final Fantasy 7: Advent Children were ace. Oh, and Hitman wasn't bad at all.

Hitman was shocking, you fool! If it had featured Jason Statham as the Hitman it might have at least made mediocrity but as it is it's terrible.

Max Payne looks like it will be pretty bad but I'll see it anyway. I like how he's shooting doors open just because Max does that in Max Payne 2. EDIT: That's in a different, much worse, trailer than the linked one.

MATT DAMON!

It is too Sin City-y. And he doesn't have a gravelly enough voice.
