I keep a signifgicant amount of those from time to time, but I don't keep it stocked all year round. Most of the time I have a decent bottle of whisky and a semi decent bottle of vodka in the house and stock up on other stuff from time to time.

Also, am I going mad or does no-one drink gin anymore?

We have various whiskies, a bourbon or two, some sloe gin and some Southern Comfort right now, I think.

I drank it until I got sick of the stuff tbh. Maybe I should give it another go.

We always have brandy, vodka, ale, lager and wine in the house. Other things appear at Chrimble tide.

I also have sloe gin, and also something weird in an old-fashioned bottle that we got in Holland. Can't remember what it's called just now :?

Don't talk rot. I always have a bottle of Gordon's or Bombay Sapphire in the house, and a selection of the appropriate mixers (tonic water, bitter lemon and ginger ale) and fruit (lemon and lime) to choose from as the mood takes me.

What sort of gentleman allows his house to fall ginless? Good lord.

May be worth splitting Rum into Proper Rum (Lamb's, Captain Morgan etc) and White Rum (Bacardi and shite). Plus you can't lump Tia Maria and Kahlua into one category, heathen. Where's Jägermeister?

As long as it gets me away from the smell of that hateful cough mixture masquerading as a fun drink, sure.

The only good thing about Jagermeister was that you used to get scantily clad Jagermeister girls carrying it around in test-tubes slung across their hips in London bars.

The Jager is crap, though! It's not even strong! 35%? I don't understand why it has the reputation it has at that pathetic volume!

What was that stuff with the gold leaf in it? I don't have any of that but I did drink some once in a bar in Aberdeen. Think it's aniseed flavour.

One of the GLORIOUS things from around here, is the annual Frankfurt Market that arrives in Brum. For the last 3 years I have enjoyed immensely the Jagermeister hot chocolate drinks that one can purchase there. Absolute heaven.

Goldschlager. Awesome stuff, if entirely pointless and silly.

If we're talking about volume then, port doesn't belong in here.

I have banned myself from gin. It is the only drink I have had that makes me mind crushingly sad and violent at the same time (behaviour wise, not how I feel inside - I feel that all the time*). I am normally a friendly drunk but when gin enters the eqution I become a different person and it scares me. Never fathomed why.

I don't think I've ever seen anyone actually buying a bottle of Jaegermeister or Goldschlager or similar for use at home... unless they have ready access to a nubile young lady with an exposed midriff and a shotglass belt. And have broken their toilet seat, pissed and vomited on the floor and carved 'fuck of' into their bathroom wall. To make it seem like an authentic club, natch.

That's because G&T is a nice sunny day drink and as this year's summer was cancelled there simply wasn't the opportunity for anyone to quaff G&T.

There are people still drinking gin - we have 3 x 1 litre bottles of Bombay Sapphire in our booze cupboard and more on the way. One of the finest drinks ever and also Mrs The Egg's tipple of choice.

As it never had "tasty" they had to try something with it.

I have a tiny amount of salmiakkossu as well, but I wasn't expecting that to be in the poll TBH.

I seem to notice that you lot seem to drink "outside" with some sort of scum that bars and clubs attract. Is there no-one else who drinks at home while howling and smashing their heads on the wall anymore?

I'd just like to say that I'll stab the marketing team who came up with the SoCo (lime) ads.

I don't really have a "drinks cabinet" as such - we tend to have a sort of rolling purchase / consumption system. This is bad, as there are times when I really fancy a G&T ( or whatever ) and we don't have anything in the house. I need to fix this.

Southern Comfort was my Dad's drink, so I've been quite unable to look at a bottle since he died.

We don't have any gin in the house - well our booze cabinet/shelf is pretty bare at the moment. We tend to drink it see, not hoard it.

Roz doesn't like gin as she says it makes her depressed, like someone else in here. I don't drink much of it as though I like G&T and VAT a lot I can't actually drink tonic water anymore as the next day every tooth in my head aches.

Gin can sometimes make me a tiny bit depressed the next day (it must be one of the chemicals in it as its quite common to get depressed on the night of drinking it or the next day ), but it's one of the few drinks that doesn't give me a hangover.

Also: SoCo ads are annoying, but it doesn't detract from the fact that Southern Comfort and lemonade is yummers.

Quite. Gin is the only alcohol I have a regular supply of. I have rum as a treat, with coconut, pineapple and lemon juice (substitute malibu for the awkward-to-supply coconut if necessary).

And drinking at home > drinking out, generally.

In my being in a band days we invented a drink called Johnson Juice. The recipe was:

1 x bottle of vodka
1 x bottle of malibu
1 x 2 litre bottle of Dr Pepper

It had to be made in a vat. It was one of the easiest to drink "cocktails" I have ever had. It was, of course, drunk from a pint glass.

Eck, this poll makes me look like a drunkard, most of the options are ticked.

In reality, the only ones I drink at all regulary beyond beer and wine are Gin (with tonic) and port.

I'm sure I have others not mentioned here, but all I can remember without going to look is Sambuca (along with Black Sambuca)

I only keep red wine in (and then not usually for very long) I get beer in coming up to Xmas or summer, but that's about it really. I've never tried Gin and tonic.

I tend to drink at home more, as I don't have anyone in Caerphilly to drink with, and going to Cardiff to get pissed either means ending the night at 2300 to get the last train home, or a £15 taxi ride.

I'm reluctant to get completely and utterly bollocksed at home, as I'll likely fall down the stairs on the way back from the toilet and kill myself.

It's odd, really. Gin is a horrible spirit neat, even more so than most of the regular ones (even whisky, while foul and likely to make me chuff, has a int of non-vile flavour). But when you mix it with something as simple as tonic water, it becomes a brilliant drink. If I'm out at a pub it's usually what I'll drink all night.

A squirt of lemon juice can help, too.

I'm a terribly bad drinker. I'd much rather have a soft drink most of the time, although I'll indulge in a nice glass of wine every now and then, and if I can find it I'll gladly snatch up some Newky Broon during one of my very infrequent trips to the LCBO.

At the moment, there's one bottle of Newky Broon in my fridge, where it has sat for the best part of a month. No spirits at all. I don't think I've drunk hard liquor in about ten years, not since I got so smashed on three quarters of a bottle of Southern Comfort that the following day my flatmate was able to convince me that I'd eaten some of his collection of little cereal-packet-freebie toys. I hadn't but, you know, I didn't exactly perch confidently on the throne for the next couple of days, for fear a small plastic Arsenal shirt was on its way out.

Tell me you're not getting into the whole Rickard's White/orange slice thing.
