We did an office one a couple of years ago. Out of 8 people, 6 received squeezy executive stress tits.

Last year, someone was given ten scratchcards which she had to scract in front of us. Sadly, she didn't win anything but it was quite possibly the most inspired secret Santa idea I've yet seen.

This is a good idea. I love Amazon Wishlists. It leads to lots of impulse gift giving. Though I've yet to set one up for myself...

And yeah, we should totally do the referral thing for Grim... why the hell wouldn't we?

The most inspired gift for someone who only remembered on the morning of the SS, and so went to the corner shop on the way in to work. :p

Several years ago when I was skint I bought my then partner a lucky dip to go in his birthday card. He won a tenner. :)

They do this on SA every year. I participated in it two years running, and got a Charlie Brooker book one year and a Portishead album the next. Both are fantastic, and neither are something I would have bought normally.

Indeed, at the time I'd not even heard of Charlie Brooker.

Also, the creativity that went into some of the packages was astounding. Perhaps make it an Amazon wishlist if you want a "safe" present, but if you want to be creative then you can get whatever you want, including making things for your santee, as long as it's within the budget. Although if people want to spend more you shouldn't stop them either, really. All adds to the fun :)

Either way, I'd be up for it.

I've done a SS on the Penny Arcade forum. I bought a guy, a load of AWESOME STUFF and sent it to him all the way over in AMERICA! He bought SHIT ALL FOR NO ONE. And got banned.

Bah!

Why don't you go and buy yourself something for a tenner then? The WHOLE point of Secret Santa is the surprise as umpteen people have quoted me on up there.

Like I said, this is fine you know the person. If I got a few people here as my secret santa it'd be fine, but some other people I'd have absolutely no clue what to get them and it'd be a waste of time and money as I'd invariably get them some comedy plastic boobs.

That would very much be a waste for myself and also I believe Shin. :P

But I could actually benefit from some plastic boobs, GJ? Because mine are inadequate, eh? :S I see, I see... :'(

Not at all Meems, I just believe that the subject of your boobs and their size has never come up on here before, you being the more demure one of the three of us and all, so I couldn't possibly have commented.

I'm up for this. I agree, in principle, that Secret Santa is all about getting someone a surprise, but the whole Amazon wishlist thing does make things nice and simple. Plus it gives me an excuse for making one, as I haven't before now.

Oh, and tidings of comfort and joy to you too, Chinny, you miserable sod.

Santa's not going to be visiting your house. Except perhaps to give an extra special gift to Mrs Chinny to make up for having to spend Christmas with her BAH HUMBUG GRUMPYCHOPS HUSBAND.

I like Christmas, but IMO the entire idea of secret santa is just one step to far towards "World Of Cuddles". Next thing you know it will be a forum orgy (subs please check).

Well, it was supposed to be a joke based on my pretend ignorance that in fact you actually can't stand Commodore and you want Alan Sugar's babies, but I guess it backfired.

Ironically I currently have two C64's but no Amstrad kit at all*. This is because the CPC emulates on PC's really well as it was a proper computer with a monitor and decent keyboard. C64 or Speccy emulation just feels plain wrong on a PC so I have the real deal to hook up to a TV.

* Well I have two Speccy +3's which are Amstrad, but you get the idea.
