Can't remember the last time I got drunk, it was so long ago. I guess I got a little tipsy last time I was on a plane; the altitude seems to really fuck with your tolerance, especially on an empty stomach.

The last drink I had was a Sloe Gin with my dad, about 5 weeks ago. Yum.

Well not for me it isn't. I've just been getting pissed at weekends for so long it's kind of hard to think of anything else to do. Tragic.

I don't drink. Well, I do but only when I rarely go out and I usually slow down from 11pm and stop by 1am. I don't like being drunk, I think it is mostly pointless. Meh.

I drink regularly in social situations and on my own, and require around 4 pints just to get a nice 'buzz' on. That means I'm a terrible pisshead, according to the BBC page, but I've actually cut down a lot over the last few months.

All of these silly surveys and attempts at pigeon-holing people into categories for every aspect of their lives can sod off, of course...

I drink to excess on the rare occasion that it makes sense. This is usually at my house or other people's, to minimise the bar bill. About once a year. I think that makes me a herbacious perennial drinker.

If it's fun, it's not good for you and it's evil and you must feel bad about it.

There's nothing morally wrong about any addictive substance unless your use of it impacts negatively on someone else. However, the governmint's approach to drugs and alcohol has been that "it's automatically always horribly bad and evil, m'kay. STOP IT OR YOU'LL GO BLIND".

Shin - ignore the government about everything. They make it all up. They decided to cut the recommended amount of alcohol a woman should drink when pregnant from 1 unit a day (week?) to zero, even though the evidence said the previous figure was the correct one, and there was no evidence for saying that any alcohol at all ever was harmful.

The "five portions of fruit and veg a day" thing was also plucked out of the air with no evidence.

Considering the basis for that, though it is completely unquantified, is essential vitamins and minerals, does it follow that taking appropriate suppliments completely eliminates the need for fruit and veg in the diet?

On the House quote, the fact that I was still completing my university work to a high standard and still being a harmless, super-amiable sort of chap were my main excuses for my heavy drinking over the past two years. Now, however, I'm getting worried about Cirrhosis.

That's the point though - mild drinking doesn't jeopardise your unborn baby at all, according to the actual evidence. What's worse are the million and one chemicals you're exposed to via makeup, passing cars, plastics etc.

Apropos of nothing, if Mimi-style rainbow bubbles actually existed, I'd buy them for all of my friends. I live in near-constant fear of accidents or attacks happening to them. It's hellish!

Also, what's this about plastic bottle chemicals? I had no idea anything from the bottles themselves tainted the drinks.

It was, most doctors will tell you 3 is perfect, however, crucially there has to be variety in that. People are too thick to grasp that so they said "5" in the hope 3 different things will be in there without it being stupidly high as a number.

It's a serious question - we're campaigning heavily to get people healthier by getting them to eat fruit and veg, but it's surely a damned sight cheaper and easier to just take suppliments, if people aren't going to do it any other way?
