Anyone else watched Harry & Paul?

Highlights from the last 2 episodes for me are the Dragons Den Sketch (Made Baba Z cry with my guffawing) and Clarkson Island,

The old surgeons are class too.

It doesn't always hit the mark, I know, but it's the best new comedy I've seen for yonks.

I agree. Seems much better than the patchy first series. I think 'The Hoodies' from last week is my favourite sketch of the series so far. The material's a bit hit and miss (as with most sketch shows) but Enfield and Whitehouse are such talented and likeable performers that even the less-funny material is never less than charming.

I've never really liked Harry Enfield or Paul Whitehouse - it's always seemed to me that they find one joke per character/pair of characters and stretch that joke out for ten years. That said, I have not seen/hard of this new show, but unless it's a big diversion from their past work I can't imagine liking it.

I have met Harry Enfield, though, and he was a genuinely nice chap and signed autographs for all of the people in the shop where I was working, and signed one for me (which I didn't ask for) on a copy of his film (that Kevin & Perry thing, which I attempted to watch but couldn't put myself through)

Probably not for you then Mimi. It is like their earlier stuff, which is fine by me.

Yeah I only saw the first one but it made me chuckle a few times. They should have fucked off the South African in the gym bloke as well as the Nelson Mandela sketches though, they're pretty crap. The Bourne Identity made me LOL.

When I watched the first series of this, I thought exactly that. "This is like Early Harry Enfield" The thing is, I've moved on, and don't find that sort of stuff as funny any more.

I hated the first series, so haven't bothered with the second. It all seemed to be "aren't foreigners funny!" humour - and it wasn't funny in the slightest.

Aw, that's a shame. I think there's still room for slightly-old-fashioned, silly comedy, alongside the (increasingly tedious) "dark" and "surreal whimsy" that is on offer elsewhere.

I can still watch The Fast Show tho and find that funny, just not so with Harry Enfield.

I haven't watched this yet! I really want to as I love Harry Enfield and Si keeps talking about the Dragons Den episodes and they sound great :D

I love daft humour like that, but I also like the 'grown up' humour aswell, nice even balance.
Watched Harry Hill last night at Gaz's (well part of it as I went to sleep-nothing to do with Mr.Hill) he still makes me laugh no matter how much I watch it :)

I saw about two minutes of this - some alcoholic trying to get a tenner off some kids. Was very funny. Especially when he was offering whisky to them.

Reminded me of his Dr Doolittle character from "..and chums" though.

:this: I've never really liked anything Enfield or Whitehouse have done. Someone was quoting from the Dragon's Den sketch today and I just wanted to curl up and die it sounded so awful.

Surely Mr Chomondeley Warner makes you laugh?

Also: Help! Although Chris Langhams subsequent noncing appears to put paid to any chance of seeing that again.

The first time. A rule which I find applies to almost all of Enfield/Whitehouse and also Little Britain (as much as I may be insulting people by grouping those, they're gimmick character sketch shows, so they're the same, alright?) - the first time you see the gimmick, it's funny, but it's the gimmick that's funny so repeating it is dull.

I am actually a bit worried it's going to be as shit as when I saw them at the Big Chill. Ange will love it, though.

Did you see Chris Langham talking all about his conviction on Shrink Rap (programme where troubled celebs talk to Pamela Connolly)? I didn't know what to think, I really wanted to believe he was being entirely honest and open but just couldn't.
