Pod, if you haven't got your book by tomorrow, let me know and I'll buy a new copy for you.

Ok, well at least two of the 12 books sent or yet to be sent have gone missing in the post.

A 17% fail rate of parcels sent through Royal Mail just is not acceptable. I hope that the people that sent the missing books (GJ and Myoptika) will claim for compensation via Royal Mail. They'll try and fob you off with a book of stamps as they have done Craig even though he sent his item recorded deliver and has documentation to prove its £35 value.

I think with Royal Mail screwing up so royally (they also pilfered a package the GJ sent to me, not related to the book swap) that it means, unfortunately, that the book swap will be all but unworkable in the future, which is a darn shame as it could have been a good idea.

Thanks again, Royal Fail.

No, I gave mine to Ange to post last Wednesday. She didn't get around to it until Tuesday, but neglected to tell me this until I'd queried it.

To be fair to her, she never said she had posted it, I just assumed.

I'd be interested in seeing what books people received.

I'd also be interested in participating in round two of this fun.

:)

Aw, that's so sweet Rev O :DD So small and silly to be worried about it - you aid from the beginning that it's be late and I quite understand and do not mind at all!

Well, if people want a round 2 I will organise it in a couple of weeks or so, as I said for the first one, it only really needs 2 people to participate, minimum, for it to work.

Also, yes, please do tell of the books you have received, everyone!

I received The Adventure of English by Melvyn Bragg from Mimi. It's billed as 'The biography of the language from 500AD to the year 2000'. It is exactly the sort of thing I love and Meems picked well. 959 bananas. :)

I received "Genome: The Autobiography of a Species in 23 Chapters" by Matt Ridley.

I shall take it on holiday with me, I think.

We read this in an English class when I was about thirteen. I think it was probably a little over my head at the time, though I recall the teacher loved it.
