Didn't Nerds also have about four similar candy based companions in similar packets but different flavours?

Dweebs was one of them I'm sure.

Dweebs were slightly bigger IIRC. Same manufacturer though, undoubtedly. Can't remember any other derivatives..?

I'm pretty sure the manufacturer was something like Willy Wonka, as something like that sticks in your head as a child. To the Google-dome!

EDIT:

Just the two names, but in lots of flavours. yes.

Hmm, I'm not convinced they were soft though. I reckon his Dweebs had gone soft in the intervening 17 years.

I'd have to say an ounce of maui wowie would be a nice surprise. Mind you, I'd probably have to head up to the shops to buys sweets pretty soon after.

I remember Dweebs. Didn't they come in a double pack with Nerds as well? Really sour little luminous yellow nuggets of pure chemical joy.

Nerds were pink, Dweebs were yellow or vice versa. What a memory. I bet men would turn up in boiler suits and breathing apparatus and take them away to be safely disposed of nowadays, they were absolutely crammed with E-numbers.

I think the best sweet would have to be those little chocolate raisins, the best chocloate bar being milky bar!(yay milky bar) and the best crisps being the teddy bear potato snack pom bears.

I like raisins, but chocolate raisins always end up with one gritty raisin among them, which then destroys the joy of the preceding raisins.

I preferred the mint poppets. They're horrible now, the mint cream inside isn't even cream anymore, it's just a solid ball of tingly cool mintness :'(

I stopped caring about Monster Munch when they shrank them. Especially how I was still growing when it happened; all my memories of those lovely crisps were as a child, and they were huge — I had to nibble bits off; there was no chance of eating one whole.

Perhaps we should ask when they got smaller? I suspect that everyone, regardless of age, would argue they were bigger during their childhood than their teen years.

Devilman's right - it's not that the Wagon Wheels got smaller, it's that our mouths got bigger.

I remember Monster Munch definitely did get smaller, but I'm sure they've increased in size again sometime in the last few years.

Or are they just very far away?

It's quite a common tactic isn't it?

Rather than put up your prices, you make what you are selling smaller.

Unless I shrank again, Monster Munch definitely changed size.

ZOMGEDIT!

Quote:
As of August 2008, it has been announced that Walkers is bringing back the original style of Monster Munch snacks, which launched in 1977. The re-launch sees the reintroduction of a bigger, crunchier Monster Munch corn snack, a bigger pack format and retro pack design featuring the iconic Monster characters.

I preferred the smaller Monster Munch

1) you get more of 'em

2) they are tastier - more surface area per gram for flavouriffic coating, you see.

My question is, is there any room in the science of Monster Munch to debunk the creation aspect? I'm sure a lot of people will be asking how many days it took to make.

Monster munch were at their best when you had cartoon of the monsters on the back and could cut out individual eyes/noses etc from all the packs to assemble your own monsters, which I did.

When the packets looked like this:
