Truly you are the man who has everything.

(I probably should have noticed you added it to your wishlist in 2005 and clearly never revise it.)

A photo of my marriage certificate that is not altered, save for blurring out my ex-wife's name (for her privacy, natch).

The registrar signed it for me, after asking me "how do you sign your name?". I guess she was expecting something close to my real name, but that'd be a lie as my signature does, in fact, read "GazChap". So I told her this and spelled it out for her.

Had I known she was then going to write it on the bottom of the marriage certificate, I probably wouldn't have said it if I'm honest. Although it might have come in handy when getting the divorce put through - "GazChap, who's that then? Does he exist? Is he real?" :P

Back with alcohol; I am drinking Vernay Terrasses de l'Empire Condrieu - it is quite nice but being the 2005 vintage a little past its best, what with Viogniers really benefiting from being drunk in the youthful exuberance stage of their life. Once this is gone I may go and find some Port to wash it down.

I was going to ask if it could possibly have been used to get an annulment under any legal terms?

Probably not, as it has my real name on the certificate too (you can see it blurred at the very top of the photo)

I am drunk again, hooray!

Burgundy this time (Albert Morot Beaune Bressandes 2003, tres nice).

As Harry Waugh put it - the first duty of wine is to be red, the second is to be Burgundy.

Now do I want a glass of Port?

One always wants port. And Stilton. Goddamn it, why do I only have the stilton.

Had a nice bot of Croix des Bardes earlier, which I'd not tried before. I'm usually wary of stuff on offer, but it was a reasonable drink.

In the meantime Bombay Sapphire and tonic will do.

Oh, heavens. I can't wait until it hits open fire time. There is nothing in Christendom as wonderful as an evening in front of a log fire drinking a decent Port and eating Stilton from oat crackers.

Port is much quicker, I walked down the stairs, opened the cupboard and there it was. It's not bad for basic ruby off our bin end list.

All the taste of beer without the effects! Don't see the point, personally. Might as well have a soft drink or something. It's like a smoker hanging around house fires and bonfires. All the joy of smoking, but without the nicotine!

I've lost my ability to drink, having semi-given it up 18 months ago. Went out last night, had a few pints and a couple of bottles, what I would've considered to be a very light evening's drinking a couple of years ago, and I have a bastard of a headache today. Oh no! I am getting old!
