I had a Rentaghost novel when I was a kid that I found very, very funny indeed. I read it every few months.

I can remember the crushing disappointment I felt when I read it one day and didn't find it funny any more.

Factually incorrect article. Worzel Gummidge was revived in the mid eighties as a co-production between Channel 4 and a TV station in New Zealand. It was shot in New Zealand and was frankly shit. But it remains that a large number of episodes were made in New Zealand and as usual the BBC have been lazy in their research.
