Grrr. It's on now and it annoys me every time I see it. That game is so inherently broken that it can't even count as a gameshow. I mean anyone who shows the slightest level of knowledge gets through to the last three to boost the money then is mercilessly voted off by the other two douches who have stumbled and backstabbed their way there. It categorically punishes the best people by rewarding the stupid cowardly majority who fear actually stretching themselves.

I 'spose it reflects real life though.

The prize hardly seems worth it, too. I don't think I've ever seen it go above 3k.

Yeah. And when they have the interview with the tosser at the end who has one it. I want to smash the screen in.

"I'm so proud I won the weakest link. I'm going to spend the money on Paying off my credit cards so I can get into exactly the same situation in tree months time. Then I'm gonna go on Golden Balls"

Agreed. It's a hateful premise, with an exceedingly hateful host. Well done the BBC, etc.

You know what they should replace it with? This!

I love it how (a) Henry Kelly shuffles on muttering to himself that he needs a drink and (b) how the England representative looks like MC Hammer.

Going for Gold would never have worked the other way round would it. Imagine the English representative on the Dutch version yelling "DOES ANYONE HERE SPEAK ENGLISH" when asked the questions. Then getting it totally wrong by mumbling "We won the bloody war you know" under his breath. Ahhh national pride.

Well this is a pertinent thread.

My dad just filmed for the Weakest Link, apparently they shoot up to 3 months in advance, so he'll be on telly at some point in the future. He was voted off third, despite not being the weakest link, but apparently got in a good bit of banter with Robinson.

I'm keen to see it myself, and he had a right laugh doing it. Paid travel and hotel, sounded good. Better than any treatment I've had off tv cunts anyway.

You mean they don't show things exactly like they were filmed? Shock! :P

Fun fact: He had to do the walk of shame twice, for different angles.

My friend won the first ever Codex with Tony Robinson. The show didn't last long but she got a trip to China out of it. The amount of running around the British Museum they did was apparently phenominal. Also she did a load of comedy moves which I only really noticed because I was watching it again and she told me about them. Tony Robinson is apparently very nice.

I met him very briefly in canterbury a few years back, and he gave every impression of being so. I was regrettably in a rather withdrawn mood at the time, so didn't really chat to him properly.

Seems as good a place as any to say that I'm on Eggheads on 22 Oct, which should be of interest to fans of not-very-good TV quizzes.

My aunt was on Weakest Link. Also Mastermind. Wasn't first or last in either, as far as I remember.

Can't remember her specialist subject, before you ask.

This adds to a welter of forum information both from here and other places that Tony Robinson is indeed, very nice.

This pleases me.

I had a couple of work colleagues go on the Weakest Link, one did quite well, before falling into the trap of the two thickest people voting her off at the end, and the other was rubbish, got voted off first, but gave Anne some shit.

They both said it was good fun, and Anne is actually quite nice when the cameras aren't rolling,

I interviewed someone who was on Interceptor. Which is quite a claim to fame since there were only 7 or 8 shows.

This episode in fact:

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=N8bgiLE8SaQ&feature=related

I also interviewed the Interceptors pilot Mikey and got to sit in the sister helicopter to the one in the series (with an identical colour scheme). Sadly they sold the original and the new owners crashed it.

Annabel Croft must be a kiss of death as the original Treasure Hunt helicopter also crashed off the Channel Islands.

How on earth did Anabelle Croft get a job as a TV presenter? It boggles the mind.

If you like footy get seven mates who support your team and email Soccer AM. Train fare paid to King's Cross, then four hours of beer wearing the club reserves kits your mate picked up, then chauffered by production staff to the snazzy hotel by Heathrow, where everyone piles into your room and drinks/smokes it up until four in the morning, getting complaints from reception about how your song practice for tomorrow is keeping people awake, then up two hours later for cooked breakfast and down to the studio for fags, pop and the show. Pick your campest mate for the catwalk, do something to piss off the production crew and over the road to the pub for a lunch and pint with everyone after, followed by a taxi back to king's cross.

Home by teatime Saturday!

I watched this the other week.

"The Eggheads are arguably the greatest quiz team ever assembled. If you win then you'll get a thousand pounds for every day they have remained undefeated... which currently stands at one thousand pounds as they lost yesterday."

My brother Dave won the gold prize on the Lottery quiz 'tHis Time Tomorrow' in July. Paid expenses for getting there, put up in a hotel for the night and then the plucky bugger won an all-inclusive two week VIP holiday to Japan.

Git.

I'm in the departure lounge at Gatwick on my iPhone, where security just confiscated the obviously-not-live bullet on my keyring. Cunts.

See y'all in a week.

Oh, Interceptor. People in bright pink shell suits hide in shrubs while some guy with a Massive Camera stands by them, and they hope the Scottish blokey doesn't see them.

Not quite as cool, but my two brothers were right at the front of the audience for a few episodes of Deal Or No Deal. There was some nonsense about Noel Edmonds writing some bizarre symbols on the teabag used in the contestant's cup of tea for luck, and then flinging that tea bag onto the floor when said contestant failed to have much luck at all. One of my brothers now has that tea bag on proud display in his flat.

It's not often that I tell people about the time by brother handled Noel's teabag, but there you go.

I love eggheads! Me and my 'team' were going to go, I was going to design t-shirts for us all to wear aswell but then we realised we know fuck all and would be out very very quickly and then Ree said that knowing me I'd be the only one to face them all alone :(

I'll watch for you :p

re: Mastermind. A guy wot I do know was on that. I think he got to the semi finals or something. He also was on Millionaire. I'm suprised Alien wasn't allowed. His specialist subject was The Watchmen comic series. :S

They rarely lose, to be honest. My mum used to love that programme, and we'd often have it on in the background while decorating. It annoyed me by being one of the many quiz programmes where the contestants, instead of giving the answer to a multiple choice question, go through each of the choices and say which they don't think the answer is, before eventually giving the answer. Newsflash, fuckwads: When someone asks a question, they want to know which answer you think is correct, not which ones you think aren't, and why.

It's otherwise watchable enough, mind. Or listenable, at least. At least it's fairly quiet and doesn't shout and bang all the time in an effort to sound exciting.

Once again SA I'm reminded of our similarities. The single most annoying thing about the fucking Egghead cunts is the fact that they never give a straight answer. Whenever possible they bend over backwards to qualify their answer with as much bullshit 'knowledge' that they reckon they have.

They'll all detestible fuckfaces, imo.

It would be a boring show for tedious people if they just fired off the answers. They're meant to elucidate on the reasoning for their answers. It's edumacational. They're not regular show-ups playing against the clock.

I don't mind Kevin too much. He seems like a genuinely knowledgeable guy and not pretentious. Judith is okay, too, because she's a bit ditsy.

The rest grate on me like nothing else; CJ being the worst, the pompous twat.

There's been some stories on Popbitch about that show.

There is one cast member who everyone hates. Also the producer is abit pro-Israel and very touchy about that kind of thing so every recording one of the cast members makes a joke about Israel that always gets cut.

Heavens, man. If you're going to quote Popbitch, at least bloody quote it in full. Otherwise it's a bit "ooh, I heard this really funny joke the other day. Can't tell you the punchline, as the wife would kill me, but it were dead funny.".

I didn't make note of the full story as it isn't a show that amuses me. If I remember stuff like that I'll forget more important stuff like what colour 26 on the CPC is. I HAVE A LIMITED AMOUNT OF MEMORY, DO YOU WANT ME TO FORGET STUFF?????

Heavens, man. If you're going to quote Popbitch, at least bloody quote it in full. Otherwise it's a bit "ooh, I heard this really funny joke the other day. Can't tell you the punchline, as the wife would kill me, but it were dead funny.".

Surely they all hate Hugh Dennis?

Everyone hates Hugh Dennis.

There's been some stories on Popbitch about that show.

There is one cast member who everyone hates. Also the producer is abit pro-Israel and very touchy about that kind of thing so every recording one of the cast members makes a joke about Israel that always gets cut.

Hm... I haven't had a popbitch email in about 2 months! I wonder what happened there?
Also: I never could find the popbitch forums that I heard existed. The site always seemed to be very minimal and I couldn't see a link :/ (Update: I see the link! Also, it says i'm subscribed... maybe it's goign to the spam filter? Hmmmmmmmmm)

Infact, is anyone on Mock the Week funny?

Frankie.

Lucy Porter was also amusing in her slightly quiet appearance in the last series.

She told about 3 jokes and one of them was a dig at the BBC.
Is Frankie the guy with the hair? He was pretty funny. The scottish guy just makes up for it due to all the time he bullies on the mic. The welsh guy is a bit rubbish, the young 'un is downright shit and the other guy is just......agh.
