Monday, Wednesday and Friday - alarm goes off at 7:00 then goes on snooze until 7:15/7:20 when I reluctantly get out of bed, stagger to the bathroom, turn the shower on, have a wee* (multi-task baybee), have a shower and wash my hair. At 7:30/7:35 I get out of the shower and hit ramsea until he gets up and has a shower while I get dressed. I de-mist the mirror, do my hair, maybe iron something if required, brush my teeth, grab my bag/laptop and get chauffeured to work by ramsea at usually about 8:05, with the intention of getting to work by 8:30. During the journey, I 'put my face on' and moan about our crap car.

Tuesday and Thursday - alarm goes off at 6am then goes on snooze until 6:20 when I even more reluctantly get out of bed and have to turn on the light (seriously, what happened to the year!?), then I wee/shower but do not wash my hair.....I then go about getting ready as noisily as possible, in the full knowledge that ramsea doesn't have to get out of bed for a whole hour. I leave at 7:05 to get picked up by Stan (known as Stan Still coz he does fuck all...Check out the hypocrisy of item b) ) at 7:10 and arrive at work for 8am.

The ultra interesting reason for the variations in my morning routine are due to:

a) my hair goes down to my waist, so takes 15mins to wash and condition so on tues/thurs I do not bother as the alternatives would be either getting up earlier (errrr, no) or putting my face on in front of Stan Still.

b) I work for a building contractor, 3 days a week I work in the head office, which is 20 miles away and 2 days a week I work on site, which is 33 miles away and I have to start at 8am. I don't mind so much as working on site is usually a massive skive, today it took me from 8:10 til 5:15 to do something that would've taken me 2 - 3hrs max in the office. Sweet.

*On the loo, not in the shower...

3.40 - Radio alarm goes off
3.45 - mobile phone goes off (hit snooze)
3.50 - Stephen Fry clock goes off
3.54 - mobile goes off again.

Get up, teeth, ablute, etc. Drive to work from about 4.20 ish to get to work to open up at 5am.

Currently my office is 40 seconds walk from my house. However from 3 weeks time I'll be 40 miles from my office. I probably won't have to go in everyday but it's still going to be a bitch which I'm not looking forward to.

Dunno what to do. I don't want to move my office as the current office is in a better location for business.

Newsagents. If twats didn't read papers, and learnt how to use computers or the radio or TV for their daily news I could have a lie in.

I thought it was quite like that down your way anyway? Except you replace the religion bit with The Wurzles.

So why are you still up at 10:40?!
And Fils: What's your prefered method of mirror de-misting?

Can't you get a lad in? One of my jobs as a yoof was opening up the paper shop for the 3 actual customers that came in before 7am.

Ever think of that? Huh?!

It has to be loo roll. Towels leave wet smears with misty bits between, it takes far too long to de-mist with a towel. When I lived with my mum and there were 4 of us in the bathroom in the mornings, soap and loo roll was the only way to go, it keeps the mirror completely mist free for at least that day.

5am is a crazy time to start work. Over here, the papers don't get off the plane until 7am, if at all depending on the weather. The boat gets delayed by 2 sailings and Tesco sells out of bottled water and tinned food...

I was up late because I have been running another shop for a week (got back yesterday) and am now on holiday for two weeks. I do often stay up late anyway though, and regularly have only around 3-4 hours sleep. This is why I have previously said I can't stay long for the late night poker.

I only start at 5am 3 mornings of the 5 I work a week, but you'd be surprised how many workmen pass through wanting their copy of the Daily Sport or The Star. And their cigs. And a pasty and a drink for lunchtime.

I can jog to my work in under 25 minutes.

If it's rubbish weather I can do it in 15 minutes by underground train (though this is depends on the train pulling in just as I get to the platform).

I like to get up at least an hour before I have to leave, however, as I have a long standing morning routine that includes reading the music and computer game pages on teletext (replaced in recent times by reading the online versions here - http://www.teletext.co.uk/planetsound/default.aspx http://www.teletext.co.uk/gamecentral/default.aspx)

Also - I have never ever understood the concept of using the snooze button on alarm clocks, I always just get up when the alarm goes off. Surely being made to wake up multiple times is far worse than being made to wake up just the once?!

My usual commute is a seven minute car journey, but this week I have decided to ride the 12-mile round-trip on my bicycle. This is partly for health reasons and partly to save money.

I felt a bit knackered when I got here this morning, but it wasn't as bad as I was expecting.

That is quite a nice journey length, albeit one where it does actually take longer by bike (mine is about the same as the train/walk, but I don't have to pay a premium to go in early, so still win). Still - it gets better. I have a whole exercise log so I can see how things are going (I know, I know) and in the space of weeks my average heart rate has dropped by over 10 beats over the commute, and it just in general feels easier. Hope you can stick at it as it gets colder - not sure how good I'll be...

Being as work is some random part of Cardiff on any given day and the only person capable of verifying my punctuality is usually off their fucking biscuit on white lightning or smack by my start time of 9:30, I could pretty much cut things as fine as minus three or four hours, but my predecessor actually did do that, and I've seen the harm caused to peoples lives by that lack of effort, so morally can't, which is strange as I'm usually a bit of a sociopath when it comes to responsibility to others.
