Yeah all I had to deal with them out there was a blunt swiss army knife.

Well, I've had to do it with a rusty nail and a dog's teeth.

Great. Now I'm going to be seriously bloody scared next time I get a bite from one. I preferred ignorance. :)

My flatmate's terrified of sponge, or more specifically touching sponge. We chucked some on his bed and he had to sort of lasso it with a roll of selotape in an attempt to pull it off, retching all the while. I thought it was hilarious, the weirdest phobia ever, but I think I may have found one of my own. I've never had a shower (only ever baths) before the place we've just moved into, so I've never experienced shower curtains before, or the way they horrifically come to life when wet and attempt to attach themselves to your skin :'(

One episode of house had a girl dying from an allergic reaction to a tick that was stuck up her chuff, did it not?

Surely if he's able to shake hands with it, it's born, and therefore no longer a foetus?

Unless he was doing EXTREME FISTING OF PREGNANT WOMEN!

I'm trying to fathom how this could have happened

I came up with 2 theories:

1, She was getting jiggy in a fern-infested area
2, She was taking a pee over a fern or indeed a deer?

They get on your boots, and crawl up your trouser leg.

Tuck your trousers into your socks if walking where there's sheep or deer. It's not a good look, but I advise it all the same.

I would advise shooting and eating all the sheep, deer and cows.

Alternatively, nuke them from orbit.

Her boyfriend walked through a field with them in on his way to boink her. It was killing her because she was massively allergic to everything ever.

The foetus was still in the mother, and they were operating on her for some reason or other. Can't remember.

This sounds like me!! Scared of everything, rather than allergic though :)

Given that it was the most awfully constructed anti-abortion propaganda committed to television, that's quite a question.

I didn't see that at all. I just thought "Ooh, that's quite sweet. I hope it doesn't result in House having an epiphany and rethinking his cynical approach to life though". And it didn't, so all was well.

What's this TV programme you're on about, I've never heard of it.

Also re sponge, I recall Dimrill saying has a special liking for the foam rubber you find inside sofa cushions and the like. Against bare skin.

The whole thing was whatserface clinging to the BELIEF that a million to one chance could happen and that they should throw all of medical science out the window and just (she didn't quite say "pray" but it's like the word echo'd round the telly). And lo it was a miracle, and stuff, and House was touched, like the painting on the Cistene Chapel, by the hand of an organic entity that the law says is within the time constraint to be aborted legally.

I don't know how you can watch that episode and not see the rabid religious pro-life agenda.

A mate of mine went on a big jaunt through South America. In Peruvian (or was it Chillean?) rainforest he was advised by the guide to - erm - spray the stuff around wildly when going for a slash. This is because with a focused stream there's a parasite that lives in the water that can swim up it and into your thingy - and that it is very painful.

Yipes.

Irrational fears?

I get very, very panicky when things point at me. If somethings just lying on a surface, and it's pointing towards me, I freak out.

It's a fish, not a parasite. At least, I've heard of a fish that will do that. I would've thought a tea-strainer (pee-strainer hoho!) would be standard equipment in such a scenario. Or for real comedy value, a pepper pot (NOT MILL) into which you insert the old chap for multi-stream fun. It would have to be a massive pepper pot, obviously.

Or, ooh - a johnny with a teeny hole in the end, you'd be able to clean hit the other side of the Amazon that way.

The three of us in my flat have been considering having a fight, armed with a sponge, a wet shower curtain and some fruit and vegetables (the other fella hasn't eaten a piece of fruit in years).

I get a bit like that. I notice it at work when I realise that I've put my biro down and the nib's pointing towards me. I also had to ask my flatmate to move his phone on the coffee table yesterday because it was pointing my way and probably firing cancer-rays into me.

I don't worry about rays, I worry about sudden gusts of winds blowing them directly into me. Having a pen nib flying towards you at a super fast speed would hurt, I imagine. Which is why I also don't like triangles. They're too pointy. Having a triangle corner jabbed into you would mega, mega hurt.

That would have to be a hell of a gust of wind. I can't say I've ever looked at the biro pointing towards me on my desk and though 'fuck, I'd better move that incase the wind picks up'.
