I believe it's the number of times you have to cut it with oil before it's unnoticeable - so a 150K rating means that 150k parts oil to one part chili product has just become unnoticeable.

No, it's measured by HPLC. Nothing to do with whether it's tastable, but more a direct measurement of how much capsacin is present in the sample.

I had to say something. I spent 4 years of my life doing a degree on it, which has turned out to be entirely useless. So I have to parade my knowledge round whenever it is vaguely on topic.

(2 lectures were on Vanilloid receptors, capsacin and it's medicinal uses and similar topics.)

I refer you to the last line of my edited post. My specialist subject was actually DNA damage and repair, and related molecular genetics.

Random quote from my past that will likely amuse you then: "the effect of an alpha particle on DNA is roughly equivalent to the effect of a bowling ball on three sheets of wet tissue paper".

He's done gone and did some new sauces! I bought some "fiery" Guava dipping sauce, and then there's some sort of apple one too. To celebrate let's all sing the song to the tune of Macho Man.

REGGAE REGGAE SAUCE!
I WANT TO EAT
REGGAEREGGAE SAUCE!
