I am currently in discussions that may potentially lead from a personal move from category #2 to category #3 later this week. But seeing as I appear to be pathologically incapable of doing anything in a simple and easy manner I am not holding my breath.

Longest relationship I've had was just over 3 years, finished in December last year. That is about the longest I can put myself through being with someone so far, I like my own space and other people get on my nerves.

Don't assume you'll always get sick of someone in under three years. As you get older you change less over time. At your age (hope that doesn't sound patronising), you're simply not the same person you were three years ago, and your partner probably isn't either. This is obviously less true from your mid-twenties onwards.

I'm assuming this was a response to the *ahem* G-Unit.

I started going out with my last girlfriend when she was just 19 compared to my 27. I don't think the age gap was as much of a problem as the actual ages involved, since I imagine that most of us pushing 30 can probably agree that you go through a lot of changes between 19 and 21, perhaps even through to your mid-twenties. To be fair though, there were a lot of other external factors making our union less than ideal at the time.

We met up again after a split of almost three months last weekend and we're now thinking about giving it another shot. This is slightly troublesome in my mind because, on the one hand, I absolutely still fancy the pants off the girl and she seems a fair bit more mature than when we first met. On the other, many of these 'external factors' still have not resolved themselves satisfactorily and I imagine us getting back together will piss one or two people off, not least my father, who I currently have to live with.

Like I say, I can never do anything in a simple or easy manner.

I know, you stick it out for a bit under the principle of 'it was just the once' but when it's the 2nd relationship you've had like that you tend to sense the old spider sense tingling. To be fair I'd give me a smack aswell sometimes-but that time I wasn't asking for it. I'm all for equal rites (Terry Pratchett pun there) because if I hit a guy I expect him to bloody well lamp me one back.

*Rubs temples* Ack, this isn't going down the path it was meant to-

The only reason I would whack someone is if they did it first or it was pre-emptive self defence. I have never hit someone just for malicious purpose (we are leaving out sibling fights obviously here) only in self defence. I am not into the whole 'I'll thump you because I can't think of a witty retort and you're making pretty words with your mouth that I just can't fathom' type thing because that is wrong, but needless to say I can look after myself.

Hey, I was pushing 22 when I noticed that, mate. So far in almost everyone I've observed, the ages of about 17-20 are the most massively fluctuating in terms of generally personal development. 'course, most half-wise people change pretty significantly every couple of years even after that, probably right up to their death.

That said, my longest adult relationship so far lasted about seven months. On and off. Mostly off. Humbug.

Haha. Nah, I think that one was in a pub (which contains alcohol Gaz ;) )
He did fancy the young girl at the counter in Pets at home though, which was amusing as she did look 12 and had as much personality as a wet lettuce. I imagine it was because she was 'stylishly' thin
