This isn't drama, for feck's sake. Chatting about stuff for ages is the norm here. If it were drama I'd have called Craster a muppet by now.

I was under the impression you didn't really do "liking" when it came to anybody.

The original post was a drama. And there may have been flouncing. But yeah, as dramas go it hasn't been the most dramatic... it's the Coronation Street of internet dramas.

Not so, I merely start at 'hate' and work backwards as it's less dissapointing. After getting to know them for a few months, there are several people here that I barely even despise now.

We still should've called this place flouncers.com or hatefulflouncers.com.

I don't normally dive into discussions like this.

OK. I never really read the bits and bobs thread, and as you will see from my post count you will see that I am not a major contributor, not that that should matter, all users are equal eh? This aside I think the B&B thread should stay. I was a massive lurker on WOS and saw you lot chat away like sexed up teenagers, except Comical of course. (Clique joke)

Please don't tear us apart over a fucking thread. I trust everyone enough that if something intersting goes on in B&B it will become known. That is all really.

Thread drift will also be banned in the brave new world.

Post subject:  Re: Discussing the bits and bobs suspension

I don't know what all of the fuss is about, to be honest.

Sometimes I dip into the Bits n Bobs thread, other times I don't read it for weeks - it depends on teh mood.

If something more substantial in subject appears in the bits and Bobs then mods can move it into a dedicated thread, surely?

Those who can't be bothered reading it don't need to, those who love it - well, it's there, and for the rest of us it is there to dip into when we're bored or want to post a picture of our new shoes, or other mostly irrelevant stuff that despite being far from important we might mention with friends in a chit-chat kind of environment.

I wanted to tell people about the little toy cat I rescued from the canal, and though it's something I wouldn't start a whole thread for, it's nice to have a place to tell such stories in once and a while.

EDIT: I wasn't here went Bits n Bobs 'went under' but I don't know if it was discussed/voted upon before hand, but another thread seemed to make out that the Mods just did it without putting it to a vote or involving other members - if so I think that it is something that should be put to a vote as whether people like it or not it is an ongoing (and to some people very important) part of the forums, but as I say I wasn't here so I am not sure if that was the case or not.

Every forum I've ever been a member of has had a big debate about whether to keep the long rambling nothing posts.

The only one that banned them outright forever is now worse off :attitude:

Can I be Gonzo?

This isn't drama. This is 'we tried something, it backfired, we should probably have gone about it differently, we've gone back to pretty much how it was, but we'll keep talking about it anyway, because we like to'. Which is fine.

If you are a regular poster/reader then mods moving ANYTHING is really annoying. I haven't been as active as I once was, and when you're like that and miss the stuff being moved then it's fine. But once you have read something in one place, and then come back later and it's somewhere else, that can be really confusing.

As for B+B even though I don't get the chance to participate in this forum as much as I did, I think it should stay. It's a topic designed for the frequent posters, it's almost an IRC channel, with the added benefit, that if you were not there at the time, you can go back and see what was said, if you chose to do so.

I don't think things should be broken out of it. It should be left there in all it's glory, the people who post in it can decide to start different threads on the subjects brought up in there. And if it's deamed worthy to move stuff from there, then (IMO) they should be copied out, so that the original B+B thread makes sense.

Oh, and Good Morning.

Malc

I do prefer topics for topicy things, as I've said. On the other hand, I felt like mentioning how utterly yum Waitrose Colombian Coffee ice-cream lollies are. That's Disseminating Essential Information, but not really worth a topic. Unless everyone was whipped into a frenzy of ice cream related reminiscence, by which point it would be.

He wasn't off anywhere. It's true that he was distracted by a rather tasty-looking badger that ambled past, though. This lead to the poor error of judgement...

How strange... that is my point exactly, and yet we are voting at opposite extremes of the spectrum ?:|

If you don't like them, don't look at the thread, why would you want to ruin everyone else's fun?

I don't do poker night, I'm not suggesting it be banned.

Exactly the kind of post I mean, it'd be madness if everything like that had a separate thread, but equally it not only confirms to me you're a man of impeccable taste but also gives me a reason to go to Waitrose.

Which is community++

And don't someone suggest "Well let's have an all-purpose food thread then" because that just leads to Gaz's jokey 15 B+B threads idea.

I don't think we've ever said we don't want ice-cream posts in there. Lave's post is exactly what shouldn't be in there, however, as it's bloody brilliant.

Perhaps if an interesting discussion kicks off and a mod's not around to see it (I'm not trawling through 20 pages just in case there's something decent in there), a quick PM to the SupaMod group might be quite good?

No, you said you didn't want it there at all. Which is why we wouldn't get those posts.

Can I vote for somewhere in between options 3 and 4 (cos I'm awkward, like)? Although I do agree that if an interesting discussion comes out of BnB it should be split out, a mod is not always going to be around (or available to trawl through BnB to look for them). Perhaps if this happens and no one's around to split it, perhaps someone could take the initiative and create a thread for it? We should all be working to make this an interesting place to read together.
