There's only one person in my life, and if there was any other way to be rid of him I'd have done it by now. Even if he got sent down, he'd be out again eventually.

Excellent, do yu think there might be a dip when Spore comes out? Or do you not think it will affect it?

No, I think the people in SL are there for other reasons. They'll log into SL and stand around chatting about Spore. I know people who all but moved out to WoW but they still keep hold of their stuff in SL, still log in to see people. It's a funny thing, really, but people like playing house, and you can't do that in those other things.

I need to get back to work though. I haven't done any work in SL except minor customer service stuff and the money keeps rolling in, but I need to do something new, or finish my improvements to existing items.

In my experience of doing tech support..

Fixing printers > Fixing photocopiers > Fixing fax machines > Being asked to fix something because it has a plug on it

Fixing printers is, by and large, a piece of piss. Sadly in my line of work we do a lot of installs of brand spanky new printers in offices, and some of these offices contain people who don't like having brand spanky new printers because the 10 year old piece of shit that jams every 3 pages, prints at about 5ppm if it prints at all and leaks toner over everything is "what they're used to". It's not unusual in these offices to get calls that the new device we've put in jams all the time, only to get there and find some part of the paper feed mechanism has been mysteriously snapped off. And when we replace that part, two weeks later more jams occur because a different part has snapped. Who thought simple pieces of paper could be so violent, eh?

I work for the world leader in wound healing and anti scarring research and study the genomics of wound healing / scarring.

Snore, etc.

Had an interview for a job today it went ok. I'll hear tommorow.
Its probably my ideal job in science...I really hope to get to the next stage.

Have another interview next week that I'm not arsed about but its good practice.

Ooh. Definitely not snore - that's interesting stuff.

How come hydrocolloid plasters work a million times better than normal gauze pad plasters at closing and healing wounds?

I sit in the great railway ivory tower, watching people outside my monkeysphere suffer huge delays getting to/from work. I then move some numbers (that represent them) together with some other numbers (that represent the amount of inconvenience they've suffered) around a bit.

Do you actually control their suffering by doing that? That would be one of the best jobs ever.

I prevent people from doing work at a large insurance company.

This is in the name of stopping them from 'doing an Enron'.

Though I very much doubt I make any difference... but the big important people seem to like my graphs.

I do a job which I tried to quit from a fortnight ago and will 99% definitely be totally quitting from next week.

Fuck knows what I'll do instead but right now the stress and effect on my home life far outweighs the money I'm getting.

Yes, except the both the crabs and the boat are a lot smaller (29.2ft), and I fish inshore rather than deepsea.

Whew, and people say *I* go off topic :p

I HATE our fax machine, it is a bar-steward as it's just decided to puke toner all over me! ARGH!! Why can't people email or send letters? Even a phone call would be preferable :(

Today I am poaching clients, which is fun as this means I get a pat on the head and a treat if I manage to get a big 'un!

Also doing 2 hen party jobs (boring) and a stag do (not so boring as I get to drool) and sorting out a mass tea towel order...oh what fun can be had with dyed cloth!

That's the kind of job I wish I did, but am glad I don't. Being out doing rugged and "honest" work seems appealing when you sit on your bum all day in front of a computer. Until you remember what it's actually like!

Well done, though, that's dead good.

Sadly, no. That's the controller's* decision, the nearest I come is calling signallers up and punching into the computer that a train will be failing to call at several stops to make up some time. The whole thing is a stupendous example of the monkeysphere at work though: half a dozen people sitting in a room, making decisions that affect thousands of commuters.

"Can that 2D52 to Bargoed?"
"Yup, and run 2R14 nonstop from Queen Street to Caerphilly."

I was down in Exmouth the other day, whatching the fisherymen go out in their boats onto a nice calm sea on a lovely sunny day, thinking that looks really good. It may be a bit worse during winter.

On the "trawlermen" show on BBC1 last night (a sort of low-rent, more sedate version of "deadliest Catch"), one of the fishermen got swept overboard and died. It's a risky business.

Now, I want that job!

You have to be fat and clean shaven. A plummy voice helps, I think.

Clean shaven, I can manage. Fat, well, getting there, in the mean time, one shall be perfecting one's accent.

I used to want to be a teacher, but sadly I'm not one of those people that have the idea of being in a particular job when they are 5. You here all the girls wanting to be nurses, dancers, vets e.t.c and the boys want to be wrestlers, firemen, IT people...nope...I just sat there burying Phillip Green in the sand pit and stealing his Biker Mice From Mars toys :)

I've done all sorts of jobs, which hile some people think, 'Hmph! That's not applying yourself Kat' e.t.c I will always find a job and I'll be able to have more avenues to go down than the rest of the one-jobbers :p hehe.

As was proven when one of the people I sometimes talk with got made redundant and can't find a job :p
This sounds mean of me to jest, but she used to take the piss out of me if I swapped a job, now she can't get one-unlucky son!
