That's lovely. Cats are the most amazing creatures. Anyone who says cats can't be loyal and affectionate is daft.

Poor Molly-dog wouldn't settle last night, and today kept chewing and licking at her bum. After a quick search and some YouTube later we emptied her anal glands. It's the first time I've put my finger inside a dog's bottom. It was unpleasant in many ways but on the plus side she seems much brighter, so I think it helped her.

My dog gets that problem regularly, we take her to the vet to get it done because neither of us are going anywhere near it! We've actually tried changing her diet now to try and reduce the frequency.

I wouldn't trust anything on the internet which told me to insert any part of myself inside a dog.

It's actually a fairly common thing and one which its quite possible to either do yourself or get a groomer to do. It's meant to be emptied naturally when they do the toilet but for some dogs, it doesn't and get uncomfortable.

When it comes to the TV my kitten can get a bit frightened, I have an amp and speakers and often she will run away if there is a car chase in a film as I think she recognises it’s the same noises as the road at the front of the house.

When it comes to David Attenborough’s Africa she sits on the sofa next to me and watches the whole episode!! It hilarious she doesn’t do this with any other TV show. That said I’ve not tried any other wildlife type shows.

Our cats like wildlife programs too. That and snooker, although they will often walk off at key moments, I'm not entirely sure they understand all the rules.

Just had to say goodbye to Poppie, our beautiful dog. It's the hardest thing I've had to do. Missing her already. She would have been 14 this year which is a good age for a Weimaraner. House is so quiet already.

The doorbell rang about 2pm and some guy said there was a dead black and white cat on the road. I rushed out as ours is black and white and at this point I wasn’t sure where it was.

Turned out to be the cat from the house over the road, poor little sod is almost identical to ours aside from a collar. So I had an odd emotion of both sadness and relief at the same time.

It had been coining into our back garden and playing with our cat as well, I would have said they were the same age.

I wrapped it up in a towel and took it to the women who lives opposite, she was beside herself, later on her son bought all the cat found around for us to use.

Bit of a pisser for a Sunday :(

:( Must have been a frightening moment but it was lovely of you to make sure the owner found out about it in as gentle a way as possible.

Post subject:  Re: *~Pets Corner!~*

After the sad relief of the dead kitten not being ours, I started to rethink the relationship I have with my cat.

I found that I don’t really play with her, as she tends to go outside and when she comes in she either wants food and or may want a “moment” in that she sits on my knee and purrs her head off. After that she went to sleep on the sofa.

So I started to make more effort to play with her this week, she is a bit odd in that she has no interest in toys. She will play for hours with a grape stalk, showing the same enthusiasm that an older cat would show with a mouse, in that she will kick it around the living room on her own for hours.

Due to some roofing work on our balcony I had to move a bamboo plant into the house upstairs, the plant is dropping dead stalks and leaves so I started some games with her around bits of this plant

After 4 days of this her routine has changed, I find that she cries (very rare for her) and when I go to see what is wrong she runs upstairs and dives into the plant for a game, or she runs behind the sofa and I have to pretend I’m angry with her and chase her. Other times she walks into the room and when I notice her she silently walks away expecting me to follow, when do I’m shown to a piece of plant that she has bought downstairs for a game.

I’m amazed how much a kitten can change, tonight instead of her being asleep on the sofa next to me, she is upstairs ignoring me after I played various chase me game with her for 30 minutes.

Bit of a double edged sword as I’m sort of happy I’ve entertained her but don’t like the fact she has ignored me.

Still the wife is away this weekend so I have her sleep on the bed with me all weekend!

Heh, that's not odd, that's exactly how cats work in my experience.

"Oh Hai, you bought me an expensive toy?I'm ignore it utterly and play for hours with the box it came in!"

The hilariously cute bastards that they are.

Too true, when we last went to my parents they had a cat bed with a cover on it that their cat loved. As ours has 3 or 4 places she will sleep around the house all of them above ground I bought one and put it on one of the chairs she slept on. Aim was to get her in one place like my mums cat.

It was viewed with utter suspicion for 3 weeks before being added to her lists of rota of beds, not before she spent more time in cardboard boxes etc

The only certainty on where she will sleep is our bed if I let her in our bedroom
