I'm too busy pimping my spaceride at the moment. I swear to fucking god I set a long skill before I left work and I return home to find the short skill I was previously learning has finished instead. I'm so losing faith in the EVE client to update properly.

I see Clint Malarchuk is turning into a veritable real life Clare from Heroes (indestructible one).

After surviving having his jugular severed by an ice skate when he was a hockey player, he has now survived shooting himself in the face.

Legend.

I am still a hero, as I further fixed the Sky+ box last night (it was working again, but refusing to record or pause TV)

For the record, then:
go into services, go into option 4, then push 0, 1, Select for the SECRET ENGINEER'S MENU.

To reformat your box (you lose everything on the hard drive) switch off at the mains, turn on while holding LEFT and RIGHT on the front of the box and wait for the circle o light to glow. Then push select. It erases anything.

To force the box to redownload its software (which is what was stopping it from recording) off at the mains, turn back on while holding BACKUP on the front of the box. All the lights will come on, and it'll sit for about 10 minutes updating itself. Then it should be good to go.

It's disingenuous of PayPal to say that "we" have successfully disputed the chargeback. Payment Service Providers have no say in whether a chargeback goes through or not, they are simply the middle men, the conduit if you will, through which the process must flow. Some chargebacks are defended automatically due to liability shift etc, but in most cases the PSP will simply ensure the defence material you send them is forwarded to the issuing bank. Often chargebacks will go through immediately, with no proceeding RFI, this is true of some fraud-related disputes where the issuing bank has no doubt that fraud has occurred.

Still, it is good news indeed.

The joy of words, for me, is that it only takes one word to be mistyped for everything you said to have a distinctly er, seedier edge. Why, only two letters only need reversing.

So, are you gonna see him again?

On the way back from trading a load of crap in for Rock Band and Mercenaries 2, I wandered into one of the village shops, for some bread rolls. Wherein Fentimans of flavours Cola! Ginger! Lemon! were proudly available for purchase. To be purchased at the checkout, no less, and it is here where we find CUS encountering the shop staff:

Gorgeous Young Redhead Girl: "Oh, Fentimans, I love that!"

CUS: "I've only tried the Cola, it's lovely isn't it?"

Gorgeous Young Redhead Girl Who Loves Fentimans: "Oh, that's a shame... it was on offer only recently! 2 for a pound, or something..."

CUS: "Oh no! Really?! Ha - don't suppose you could maybe let me off, being a few days late? *wink*"

Fuckin' Bitch: "Ooo, no, sorry, I couldn't! *thinks* Do you know the arthouse cinema in Wolverhampton? They sell it there too!"

CUS: "I know the one - I kept meaning to go, but it would have been myself, and what's the fun of arthouse movies without someone to spiel forth your theories to?"

Gorgeous Young Redhead Girl Who Loves Fentimans And Arthouse Cinema: "Aww, poor you - well, you should go anyway. I'm there lots, we could... I dunno, next time I see you in here, we could discuss the film then!"

CUS: "Hey, that sounds good to me! What sort of films do you like?"

Gorgeous Young Redhead Girl Who Loves Fentimans And Arthouse Cinema And Wants To Chat With CUS About It: "Oh, anything, especially anything in black & white. I think Twelve Angry Men was the last one I saw-"

CUS: "I LOVE THAT FILM!"

The Future-Future Mrs. CUS: "Mmm, me too... well, I've got to get back to work... maybe see you there some time soon?"

CUS: "...Maybe... thanks... well, bye!"

The Future-Future Mrs. CUS: "See you soon *wink*"

Now I just have to find the way to break the bad news to the Current-Future Mrs. CUS. Although... she didn't give me money off the Fentimans did she? Hmm. Maybe I should stick with the devil I know. Go-go CUS Chastity Belt!

I checked my current account on thursday night, hoping I had enough money to send £30 to a friend down in London for a gig she's booking a seat for me at. £510: success.

Went into the bank yesterday to do the transfer because my Internet banking is shit, only to be told "Sorry, you're £225 past your overdraft." Knowing full well my overdraft isn't £700 into the black, I asked the lady to look at my transaction details.

Turns out, for the second time this month, someone has used my card to buy £1200 of plane tickets.

Not impressed.

What I don't get about this is - there's no point buying plane tickets unless you're going to use them, so how hard can it possibly be to link the transaction to the ticket bought, and thus CATCH THE FUCKING PERSON ON THE PLANE?

I'd love an answer to this, seriously.

Baffling isn't it.

Sad thing is they'll probably get away with it because £1200 is probably too small an amount for the banks/police to bother with.

Have another nice holiday, guys! But take me along next time, you pricks.

I know* someone who had the same thing, but with ferry tickets. The CC company did fuck all to stop them and were just going to refund the cash, so he called up the anti-terror police, saying that his card had been defrauded in connection with overseas travel (apparently it's something they're interested in).

The police went and caught the fraudsters at the scene, and were exceptionally thorough.

It's all about their priorities, apparently.

So the frausters are easily fucking CATCHABLE and the procedure is to not bother? I seriously can't believe that, it would be lunacy.

Afraid so.

I had 4.5k of fraud on my card to re-do the roof on a specific address in Essex.

The credit card company told me they wouldn't involve the police as it was below their fraud threshold.

They then actually GAVE me the address of the fraudster, but I was so shocked and dismayed by the events that I neglected to write it down.

Nope, not me, although you are correct in thinking of me in relation to that. Never had a consensual male-on-male experience, never wanted to do sex things with men ever, really like girls. Especially redheads with milky skin and pale eyes. And a curvy bum. *sighs happily* Have gay friends though. </wonders how that might be read>

A thought occurs: I was wearing my Pimp That Snack t-shirt earlier. Could this be the secret to my new-found hawtness?

Wait - are you telling me that in my absence, Craster has come out as being sexually attracted to badgers? He is ginger, yes, but taken :( And outy instead of inny.

'Touching' was the phrase, I believe. Implications of stroking would be actionable libel. Or slander. Possibly.

I am now on Xbox with the profile KatakaShin and have been playing Bomberman, online with a bunch of random people! It was kinda weird, fun...but still weird. They had mics and I borrowed Gaz's

That's pretty much all I've done today...how sad...oh! Except mooch round town for a bit and then see Gaz's folks, watched 'The Naked Gun' (which is brilliant)...THEN Bomberman

Had I not been stammering with rage coming out of my ears as they said,

"Oh yes, it was apparently at the address:

456 Essex Close
Slagville
Essex"

I would have written it down and planned revenge.

I was just shocked that they weren't going to prosecute when they had the fucking address, and even when I said that I would call the police they said it wouldn't matter as the theft had now legally occurred against Egg, and in that case I couldn't do shit...

My mind literally went blank with the pointlessness of it all, and I missed the address.

CC companies are almost as bad as the criminals.

I was told by Barclays they don't even report fraud under £10k now because the police have never done anything about it.
