Em’s Revival has leaked. It’s pretty good but I haven’t got to that ginger cunt yet.

It was a bit shit. In the vein of Rhianna/Em’s Love the Way You Lie. Meh.

That (LtWYL) is probably in the top #3 Eminem songs for me, so that bodes well.

Just heard that Eminem and Beyoncé tune on the radio.

It's gash.

Top 3 Eminem for me would have to be:

1) Guilty Conscience
2) Kim
3) Get You Mad

I really liked Revival. Bits of it were brutal.

I was about to leave the house this morning when an organ piece came on the radio and I was so mesmerised by its textures and sound I found I just had to listen to the whole of it before going on my way.

It's called 'Wrangham' by Claire M Singer. Not someone I've heard of before but I'm definitely going to have to investigate her work further. As with all new things, I'm never going to be able to recapture today's sensations and wonderment again, alas, but further listening will hopefully uncover more of its secrets.

Wrangham has had all of 4083 listens on Spotify. You're in at the ground floor. Will give it a whirl.

Do you ever listen to Late Junction? Lots of interesting stuff to be gleaned there. I preferred it when it was just either Fiona Talkington or Verity Sharp presenting, but I've heard some weird and wonderful stuff, over the years. And I noticed this on the Beeb website a while ago, and it sums it up nicely.

I've heard lots about it but never actually listened to it! I should give it a go.

My excuse is that it's on too late, but with 'listen again' features that's just a bit lame. Now I can stream stuff to my kitchen radio (or even my Echo dot) over bluetooth I should sample it sometime.

I discovered it in 2000 when I was laid up with sciatica, couldn't move, couldn't sleep and bog all worth watching on TV. I channel skipped on the radio and heard 'Flak' by Graham Fitkin on LJ. That kicked off a period of late night radio listening and recording to cassette and then minidisk that lasted for about 5 years, maybe longer. I've got disks full of the likes of Värttinä, Throat Singers of Tuva, Mercedes Peon using a hoe and a rock as percussion (Isue), Arvo Pärt, Salif Keita, ohh, I could go on and on .... Mind you, there's sometimes odd minimalist stuff that even I can't put up with, but it's rarely boring.

Listening to the album now. If you like this sort of moody soundscape style music you'll probably like James Blackshaw.

Just finishing up listening to Wednesday's 'Late Junction' (the joys of working from home), and I'm genuinely impressed by it. Other than the 'Monster Mash' there was nothing I had head before, and the vast majority of stuff played was so far away from what I'd normally listen to it's very unlikely I'd have ever stumbled into any of it. This show contained electric folk, Caribbean music, Polish techno-death, and strange mystical woodwinds. Eclectic, weird, and varied sounds, but all captivating. Can't believe that this show's been running for about half my life and I've never tried it before. Definitely going to listen to more from now on.

Post subject:  Re: Non-Genre Specific Music Thread

My pleasure.

I don’t know if it’s pre-recorded now, but when I first started listening it was live and I’d mail Fiona or Verity about what they were playing and they’d often reply on air, or even email me back if it wasn’t something they wanted to discuss openly (nothing ‘not safe for listeners’ just things like discussions about artists, suggestions for other stuff to play, etc.). It had a lovely personal feel about it.

One drawback was that the Beeb kept messing about with the schedule and either starting it later because of a previous programme over run, or replacing it on some nights with some other programme. Regular fans were often up in arms about that. I haven’t listened regularly for a while now, so I don’t know if that still happens.

Fine, have some videos in your eyeballs.

Need some convincing to listen? Ok, well, he’s a rapper but funny like The Lonely Island but with respekt causes he’s a proper rapper.

A funny one that put him on the map.

A great concept song with SNOOP DOGG.

Another concept track where him and Chris Brown swap bodies. Chris Brown is excellent even though he’s the scum of the earth.
