I mean, I always thought the Chuckle Brothers were better rappers than Tinchy Stryder, but it's nice to have confirmation.

Shady Cypher 2014

Slaughterhouse! Yelawolf! Eminem! Accapella.

Frankly, it's the only thing in hip hop worth listening to these days. I haven't heard any decent hip hop for a long long time.

So I listened to the steam of the new Wu-Tang album, A Better Tomorrow.

36 Chambers it certainly is not. Wu-Tang Forever it is not. The W it is not. Iron Flag it kinda is. 8 Diagrams it sorta is too.

And by that I mean, it ain't good.

As an aside it has the dubious pleasure of the first album I've ever heard of where The Internet People have had a damn good complain about the font on the album cover.

I've been enjoying Run the Jewels. Listen to Run the Jewels. It's El-P from Company Flow and Killer Mike.

This might be old hat to folks given that it was released back in 2010 but there's a compilation album floating around that pairs the Wu-Tang and various affiliates with some of the most brutal dubstep I've ever heard and, unsurprisingly, it's fucking awesome. There's an atmosphere of subtle evil lurking over the entire thing that makes for compelling listening and it comes very recommended based on the few listens I've given it so far.

Fans of not supporting music artists might wish to know that the album is also on Spotify.

And I agree with Bamba, it's good and properly brutal.

D'Angelo's new album, Black Messiah, is pretty good. If you liked Voodoo, like how I liked Voodoo, you will like Black Messiah.

I've got a weird 1st-love story behind Voodoo so it has a strange teleportation influence over my brain area though; so to have an album from D'ange that sounds like D'ange from 14 odd years ago, or however long it's been, this new album conjures up old memories for me despite being new. Strange old world.

Interesting article wherein some bloke conflates Marvel's Avengers with the Wu-Tang Clan and, specifically, Liquid Swords with Age of Ultron.

I quite enjoyed reading about Liquid Swords there. I didn't even know that "I Gotcha Back" had a video nor that Shogun Assassin skits, which are so instrumental to the album, were thrown in at the eleventh hour.

I have Lonewolf & Babycart on DVD because of that album. I bloody love Liquid Swords and Babycart.

Frank Turner fanboy that I am, I'm onto my sixth or seventh listening of his latest album 'Positive songs for negative people' (the title felt very :attitude:). Some great anthems there, and I think 'Get Better' is going to become one of my set marching songs alongside the New Pornographers' 'Use it'.

Been so heavily into Frank that I haven't actually taken the cellophane off the new 'Bellowhead' yet.

On a recent YouTube rip I came across Chelsea Wolfe and specifically her new album Abyss. It's none-more-bleak industrial folk with a dollop of PJ Harvey and it's fucking amazing. Utterly emotionally punishing and a perfect fit for wandering around in the dreichness of a UK winter.

Fans of Babymetal (which I think is Me, TheVision and Da5e) might well like this:

This is more my cuppa tea. Pino Pallidino shows how to play rock bass effortlessly. I think John Mayer's in there somewhere too.

Probably super-old news (given it's 11 years old) but if you missed it, this instrumental Wu-Tang album is brilliant.

Presumably it's not just the original Wu album with all the vocals removed so what actually is it?

they're a kinda jazz funk band, playing Wu-Tang songs, largely no lyrics. Sounds pleasingly cinematic and good to work to.

As I wrote those words, I was putting myself off. But give it a try.
