Replaced my front wiper blades with Bosch AeroTwins today. Noticed that the paint on the wiper arms is very flakey and it's a bit of an eyesore. Is it easy to remove them, sand them down and paint again? What kind of paint do I want? |

Without seeing a picture it's a bit hard to say but if they looked an arse to remove I'd just leave them in place, mask off the surrounding area thoroughly, give them a sanding and then just hit them with a few coats of satin black Hammerite spray. |

The Puma ones are bolted on. If yours are too you'll need a spanner (but really a socket) and a small flat-head screwdriver to take the cover off. |

Unclip black plastic cover, it hinges up. Undo 13mm nut, or maybe 12mm... I think on civics you have to do this next but with the bonnet up to avoid scratching it but I may be wrong. Lift the wiper arm until perpendicular to glass, like you would when washing, then grab with both hands and wafl violently up and down (toward and away from glass) until it comes free. This is because its in a taper spline which is designed to stick on. Try to mark them before hand so you get them back on the right spline. |

I've no idea how your car looks I've found Wheels are fairly easy to improve the appearance of. Done all mine black and currently doing the silver alloys on Mrs Zs. Only done one so far, but I'll take lots of pics and write up how I do the next one. Helps to have a full size spare while you do them. |

EXCITING ROVER UPDATE! The "feed me" sensor doesn't appear to work, as there appeared to be a complete lack of 710, so I stuck 4 litres of B&M's semi synthetic in £10 for 4 litres). And took the air filter out and gave it a shake. And refilled the coolant which is looking pretty brown, and the tiniest spot of mayo on the filler cap. Might get it washed today, see if the wheely bin scratches will disappear. |

My rear-right let go half a mile from home last night as I accelerated to 60 out of a 30, so I coasted back. It had felt a little odd along the country road to that point, but I put it down to using Helens mx5 yesterday. That's the only warning I had, before the aforemoantioned bong and notification. I wasn't sure it wasn't the system confused to be honest, it felt alright, tracking about as straight as it ever does! Locking nut seemed stripped, so the RAC had to come in. Embarrassing! And a Bit naughty as I've no home start but haven't updated the address yet. I don't know if its a slow puncture I've suspected for a while or terrible suspension geometry - my mechanic used to mention the camber, but all e61s look the same - but it's down to canvas on the very inner shoulder. Very embarrassing! The other isn't much better (SUPER embarrassing!) so it's parked up with tyres on the drive coming tomorrow. And then I'm going to find someone round here that knows their way around a camber bolt. |

Finally got the invoice through for the battery and brake pads, £520.76p. For a battery. And brake pads. Stupid Audi S4. Still, it is TT fortnight here at the moment, so I'm getting to have an awesome blast over the mountain in the morning on the way to work whilst the road is one way (unfortunately that same one way system means I have to come back slooooowly over the coast, but it's worth it). Haven't had the chance to go properly flat out yet, as I'll only do that once I get up onto the mountain mile and can see that there's no other vehicle on the road between me and the end of it, as such I've topped out at around 135mph. But once I get a clear run at it my goal is to have the car bouncing off the 155mph limiter before the end of the mile. Also been getting a bit of brake fade by the end of the run, but it's well known that the standard brakes on the S4 aren't exactly a perfect match for its power and speed, I just have to factor that into my braking distances for the last couple of miles. |

Behold! One of the alloy wheels I've lovingly restored (well greatly improved) on Mrs Z's RAV4. I've loads of in-between pics showing all the sanding/priming/moresanding/etc but had these two on my phone to show a mate at work. Also cleaned up the wheel arches and the spruced up the callipers too as I've been going along. Very pleased with the results. Fucking graft though.
