Sorry. Poor phrasing. I meant 'unmount'. I need to get to the rear bolt on the thermostat and if I can unmount it and move it 3 inches up, it'd be grand.

You're still taking it off, so same thing.

I hate to be pedantic here ;) and this really isn't my bag (the thought of me doing car maintenance is laughable), but isn't "the round thing behind the fluid bottle" the vacuum assist unit (i.e. servo)?

It is - it's all one thing on Ford's though, so the whole lot has to come off.

It seems extremely excessive to have to remove the brake servo to undo the thermostat housing. Do some internetting to find out. Maybe you just need a different shaped spanner or wrench. Mechanics have all sorts of weird things these days for undoing stuff in awkward locations.

Well, we're doing it again, probably in May, but we're going to make that decision next year.

Anyone want to come with?

Possibly in, it's one for my bucket list. Doubt I can make the planning drinks though.

Also, you should totes do it in VVTL-i Celicas - 190hp and they're ludicrously cheap (or were, at least, haven't looked at prices recently)

I would be interested but probably couldn't afford it right now tbh. Plus I fancy taking my Clio and that would be a bad idea. :DD

Assuming we sold the car like we were supposed to, it would have been about £500 all in. Maybe £600.

Don't forget the car has to be driven to Germany and back; a certain amount of reliability is necessary.

Anyone ever bought a space saver wheel online? I would like a Ford Fiesta 58 plate one to replace a 16'' wheel if one ever pops but when I google for one I've never heard of any of the shops.

Any recommendations?

1 bolt had sheared off, and the thread stripped in the engine. I stuck it on tightened it all up as best one can with 1/3 fixings absent and it was watertight. I ran it for 4 miles and the level dropped slightly which I think was an air lock. This morning, thete was no water loss so I stuck 1/3 bottle of Radweld I to it and there were no problems on the way in. So it is patched rather than fixed.

I bought a full size alloy for my Focus after one rim cracked going down a really big pothole. It came with a tyre which I got replaced and at the same time had the wheel checked over. Was half the price of getting a brand new one from a dealer.

I've been searching through my email trying to find the details, but I'm not sure I still have them as this was back in 2008. I think I used http://www.breakeryard.com/ to find it.

IIRC didn't he win this, beating Schumacher in the process, whilst still very much a rookie driver, as it were. I think he was something like 17 years old at the time.

Nope, he's not won before. Doesn't mean he didn't beat Schumacher though, as it's a knockout.

The oil light on the Subarurururu flicked on a few times on my way in (it is strange driving it after the ka. You can see over things! You can get out of junctions! You can engage low range and clear a parking space!)). If it is dripping 70ml a day I think that isn't a terrible and is probably a leaky gasket. I shall change the oil filter and wipe down the crank cases to see where it is coming from before it goes in for the belts.

Edit: coolant is clear as a bell. I ran my hand along the head gasket on one side and there was no oil. Suspect sump bolt or oil filter now.

I shall file this under "other expenses"

I have a shop with no built in heating, the only warmth comes from an oil filled radiator as I have been told this is the cheapest option. It is 2000 watt, units of leccytricity 13p roughly. if I leave it on full bore for 10 hours how much will it cost me? I suppose it does click off and on occasionally so ambient temperature is a factor too, any idea how much its costing me to run it?
