I bought a Gun Gum bandage. That should work, right? I will put it over exhaust, then under heatshield to hold it up.

Depends on what part of the exhaust. If it's on the manifold (the front bit), the bandage will burn off quite quickly. It may be possible to get it welded up for a more permanent solution.

thanks. I worried about that. It is before the catalytic converter. I could jubilee clip it I guess, then.

I have in the past used jubilee clips, exhaust paste and bits cut from tin cans to repair exhausts. It is how you say? 'A bit of a dodgy bodge' though.

Yeah. One of the bolts has corroded away. Welding would be the best answer but there is a lack of time. I can probably fashion a fastener for the short term. Unless I ran the car to a shop here, thinking about it.

Could I just use resin to attach the two flanges together? Is resin flammable?

Don't know.

I bought some metal epoxy putty which should be ok as the flanges should not get too hot compared to the pipe I guess.

Technically, yes, although Trooper has given me an assurance that he'll take it off my hands, so I suppose he has first-dibs - if you (or you know someone) who wants it, let me know the details and I can ask Troops if he's alright with it ;)

Well, I was out under the car in the pouring rain this morning. I stuck the resin in and clamped it up which was all OK. 30 mins later, MrsA wanted to go off to see her parents, so I took the clamps off and it held for about 10 seconds before one side unstuck itself. As she really had to go, I've used an mountain bike gear cable to tie it up, and when the car returns I'll do a proper job with the resin because my ear was right below the drain hole, and I didn't have enough time for it to cure properly.

Yeah, but the big seat doesn't go in the Ka due to no isofix, and the seat for the Ka is a pain to belt in. And the pushchair probably doens't fit in the boot.

but, yeah, I did suggest it...

Its a good idea to heat the gum to make it set way fasterer. However running the car introduces moisture which is bad. So use mrs A's best hairdrier.

Buyer has just been to pick it up, so I'm now back down to two cars and am £1,800 better off. Which is the price I paid for the car - so all's fair in the end!

AA European cover (we'll carry spares with us (or buy stuff we need) and we're not shy with spanners, but if we need something specific we'll call them out). I'm not sure about their policy on dragging them home, though.

Otherwise just point at it, laugh, and cram yourself into the back of a different Puma.
