We have now ordered a Twingo. The 0.9 Turbo engine is a cracking little thing - it's a great fun car to drive.

Obd2 said it was a speed sensor so I have erased the code and will see if it comes back .

9:02, bloody crashed again though, and took loads of corners pretty awful. I am uploading a video to show you.
Sub 9 should be possible.

Pro settings with manual gearchanges and using a Logitech G27, but no Oculus Rift.

How good is the rift for this?

Good and bad. It's fun to use, but the resolution is just too low for it to be a serious option. You can't read the dials properly, you can't see upcoming corners until you are on top of them etc...
Once you know a track though, it's a good laugh and I think it will actually make your times a bit faster, it't much easier to "feel" the speeds you can take round the corners. For me it isn't a default thing to use though, as the downsides don't make it worth the faff of wearing it and getting the game to run with it. It isn't a simple in game toggle switch yet.

It limits you to 50mph in the pits, so I took that as the speed I should be doing through the barrier...

I'm going to try and work out how to record the Rift output tonight and show a lap using that.

A lap of some random track in the Abarth 500 SS, pro mode, manual gears, using the Oculus Rift.
You can clearly see the poor resolution of the rift in this, but it's actually slightly better in real life, as this is only the feed to one eye. As the feed to the other eye is slightly different, it's looks a bit better int he rift and you can see a bit more detail resolution wise, however that extra detail is killed by the screendoor which the rift introduces, so this video is actually pretty close to what the detail actually feels like in the rift I think.

I'll do a lap of the ring at some point and upload that.

A lap of the ring using the oculus rift.
Same deal as always, pro mode, manual, blah blah blah

9:13 IIRC, I seem to drive a lot slower when i'm trying not to crash at all...

Tracked the rattle in the big car down to the exhaust heat shield coming loose. I hopped under the car with all the jubilee clips in my possession but the law says I didn't have the right size. so that can wait until tomorrow night.

The Ka has behaved itself since I cleared the error code, which is pleasing.

I bought a Gun Gum bandage. That should work, right? I will put it over exhaust, then under heatshield to hold it up.

Depends on what part of the exhaust. If it's on the manifold (the front bit), the bandage will burn off quite quickly. It may be possible to get it welded up for a more permanent solution.

thanks. I worried about that. It is before the catalytic converter. I could jubilee clip it I guess, then.

I have in the past used jubilee clips, exhaust paste and bits cut from tin cans to repair exhausts. It is how you say? 'A bit of a dodgy bodge' though.

Yeah. One of the bolts has corroded away. Welding would be the best answer but there is a lack of time. I can probably fashion a fastener for the short term. Unless I ran the car to a shop here, thinking about it.

Could I just use resin to attach the two flanges together? Is resin flammable?

I bought some metal epoxy putty which should be ok as the flanges should not get too hot compared to the pipe I guess.

Technically, yes, although Trooper has given me an assurance that he'll take it off my hands, so I suppose he has first-dibs - if you (or you know someone) who wants it, let me know the details and I can ask Troops if he's alright with it ;)

Well, I was out under the car in the pouring rain this morning. I stuck the resin in and clamped it up which was all OK. 30 mins later, MrsA wanted to go off to see her parents, so I took the clamps off and it held for about 10 seconds before one side unstuck itself. As she really had to go, I've used an mountain bike gear cable to tie it up, and when the car returns I'll do a proper job with the resin because my ear was right below the drain hole, and I didn't have enough time for it to cure properly.

Yeah, but the big seat doesn't go in the Ka due to no isofix, and the seat for the Ka is a pain to belt in. And the pushchair probably doens't fit in the boot.

but, yeah, I did suggest it...

Its a good idea to heat the gum to make it set way fasterer. However running the car introduces moisture which is bad. So use mrs A's best hairdrier.
