That's the one I saw on Facebook.

How exactly do you have a "wire for launch control" and not connect it to a "button for launch control"? It'd be the first thing I did :)

See: lazy bastard. The things he could have done with that and didn't genuinely makes me angry. Wait, how did you see that on facebook? Are we fweinds?

That's a lot of cash for a car that needs a reasonable amount of finishing off and has a smoking turbo!

There was a dude on mx5nutz who picked up a supercharged 5 for £800 a couple of years back, the lucky bastard.

My car is now suffering *all* the geatbox symptoms, which means clutch pack, torque converter and mechatronics solenoids, not just the complicated 'no really sealed for life' fluid, seal, filter and sump service.

Basically, its cheaper to buy a refurbed box off ZF for £2.4k than have a specialist do all those bits in one go.

Still cost me less than paying more for a newer/lower mileage car would've, done alright for more than a year.

Sympathies. The Ka has been overheating. Initial look see suggests blocked pipes or fucked water pump. Will try and find time to change the pump in the week. Or take bIg car to work.

No, I mean it had done alright so far.

no-one was really talking about these.problems when I got it, unfortunately.

It's not 'get it done now' bad. Less than another year away though...

Well the Accord has lasted over a year (albeit not by much), which is about right for me.

Collecting this on Friday. Straight swap for the Accord, although the Civic is somewhat over book price and doubtless the Accord will go out at £10500 or something similar.

Took it out for a drive today and it's excellent, the VTEC really goes nuts over 6500rpm.

No USB connector though :( I'm either going to have to go back to MP3 CDs (poo!) or get an iPod Touch with the pre-lightning connector on it as the car does have a factory fit iPod connector.

Fun motoring beckons once again!

Haynes manual ordered yesterday, it arrived today. Seems it could be as simple as a temp sensor doohickey. A ha ha ha. Simple.

CTRs really do crash in value once they leave the forecourt. I lost a shitload on my EP3.

The E36 M3 Evo vert did worse I guess, relatively.

Basically I'm shit at liking cars that hold their value.

Twenty five pounds! For an adapter!

I was looking on eBay last night and used 32GB 4th Gen Touches (which had the 30 pin connector) can be had for under £100 on a Buy It Now, so that probably seems like the best way to go.

Having had a read around on Civic forums the car does fudge it a bit and sees the iPod as a 9 disc autochanger, but you can control it fairly well using the car's own head unit and steering wheel buttons, and it keeps it charged too.

I'd go for one of the last iPod classics rather than a touch if all you're using it for is in-car music.

£25 vs £100, and £100 is coming out on top? Man maths at its best ;)

But I don't possess an iPod Touch of any description so I'd have to buy a 5th gen Touch AND the adapter!

Going down the eBay route I just need to buy a second hand 4th gen as the kit is already installed in the car.

I did consider this, do the iPod classics have the 30-pin connector on them?

I suppose I should just Google that, really :D

I've been well impressed with this thing:

http://www.amazon.co.uk/gp/product/B009 ... UTF8&psc=1

Music sounds great over the bluetooth connection and lets you use your phone and do voice dialling and whatnot.

I've actually got a 30GB iPod classic (with a 30-pin connector) that you can have if you want, for the cost of postage?

I assume it still works fine, I've not charged it for about a year. Oh, and it has Zeppo's real name engraved on the back...

Yes they do. They were the last devices still to use the old dock connector.

That would be excellent if you'd be so kind?

30GB is plenty, I make do with 8GB/16GB USB sticks at the moment.

PM incoming with address, I can Paypal the cost of post and packaging or whatever means you prefer.

Thanks :)

To drag this vaguely back on topic :P

Image

Picked it up on Saturday. Not a spot of rust on it, a couple of minor scratches and a scuff on the rear bumper. Recent cam belt change and full service.

It's a hoot to drive, although I'm not brave enough to test its limits just yet.

Shame I flogged mine just before you got this, you could have had some sexy bits from it :)
I know the guy who is parting it out if you want the oem front lip, or reclining bucket, or front strut brace, or anything like that.

Yours was a Mk1 wasn't it?

Already has most of that stuff anyway being the Sport S-VT model :) I do need to get a rollbar/style bar though, looks a bit odd without one. And possibly a hardtop.

It was a mk1, but most stuff in the mk1/2/2.5 can be swapped over. I had a TR-lane rollbar in mine, which fits all models, but that has been sold apparently.

Never understood the purpose of hard tops for MX5s. There's nothing better than blarting around on cold winters days with the roof down and the heater blowing. The hoods are excellent too, you can open and close them with one hand whilst still sat in the car and they have a proper glass screen and everything.

The hardtop is more so I can keep the car parked up unused for a little while without worrying about the condition of the soft top.

More of a nicety than a must-have though.

wouldn't do that, best way to preserve a soft top is to keep it up. If you fold it all away over winter with the hard top on then come spring you have some lovely big splits and creases in the fabric...
