I saw a Ferrari limo today in Bradford. It had the region F12 Fat. I was quite amazed. It sounded good

I saw a Tesla Model S on the A556 near Mere today. Didn't know what it was as I didn't recognise the badge, but Mrs. W saw what it was. Looks rather swish.

I suspect they are M&S rather than French. My dad wears very similar ones

That's not a great angle, I'll go into the game and find one and and get a pic, the headlight configuration is the clincher for me.

Does anyone know what the make and model of the car is in Zoidberg's pic? The site I lifted the GTA image from lists the influences as:

Pigalle by Lampadati
Influences: Alpine A310, Maserati Ghibli

It’s a Citron, I think. It’s got the look, and it’s parked with others.

So if you Google Citroen SM, and then look at my pics of the car in GTAV there, that's what it is - it's a Citroen SM.

The headlights/number plate configuration is a dead-ringer.

The front end is fairly SM-like, but the back end is totally different.
Like most GTA cars it's bits from a number of vehicles mashed together.

Ordered a hydraulic jack to raise the car. I bought some exhaust fixing tape as well. I will have a look see when the jack arrives and make a decision.

Right pipe and left pipe have become separated. Probably needs a new exhaust. In the meantime, after an hour of faffing about trying to get the rusted on heats held off, I exhaust bandaged it. I will add more tomorrow. Seems quieter and I am looking for an indy garage near here.

No it is up on a ramp. I could only find one axle stand so used my ramps instead.

I’ve never quite understood the fear about that. I guess if you put the jack in a stupid place.

Well, if the jack fails, unless you're working on a monster truck there's probably not enough clearance between the chassis and the ground to avoid crushing you under the weight of the car.

Sitting at the garage waiting for a technician to diagnose the rattle coming from our front wheel.

It sounds like a load of tent poles rattling every time we go over a bump or uneven road.
My money is on a bearing or the CV joint because I want to sound like I know what I'm talking about.

My ex's jack failed and dropped his Astra on his foot, turning it twice the size and lovely shades of purple. Turned out (months later when he finally got it looked at) that he'd fractured something.

Serves him right for propping it at an angle on unstable ground (gravel).

Right? That's nothing to do with the jack, it might well have fallen off axle stands too.

Jacks don't tend to "fail". Maybe they're easier to use wrong, or something.

I am very wrong. He was killed after fling asleep at the wheel in Sheffield. Sheffield is a dangerous place.

It was Harry Hewitt who died when the jack slipped and his van fell on him.

Jacks have a narrow footprint, there's just a lot less stability there if for example someone bumps into the car. They just aren't designed for holding cars up while you work under them. And they have been known to fail. Obviously most times it will be fine and you won't have your head squashed like a melon but I'd much rather not take the chance.

Harry Hewitt's death was INCONCLUSIVE. Someone warned him about either the jack or the way it was done, it's hard do tell.

23:27 onward. Worth watching just for the epic stunt effects and the fact that his friends didn't really seem that concerned about him being dead.

Also I'm not convinced that a van that could be lifted by a single man (and not just a corner - the whole side) would kill a man if it lowered itself gently onto his chest. Maybe.

Trolley jacks can have the same problem - less so the stability side of it, but the hydraulic pressure seals can go, and often do - I've had one fail while I was jacking the car up.

Sometimes they go with a big bang and the whole thing fails, sometimes it leaks slowly.

Either way, for the cost of a pair of decent axle stands, is it really worth taking the risk?

If the hydraulic seals go on a jack, take it back to the person you bought it from and hit him with it.

A fine plan, of course, provided you're not under the car when the seals go ;)

Assuming you weren't lifting something heavier than it was meant to, make sure to take it back to the person you bought it from and hit him with it. He should certainly give you another one.
