Anyone in the market for a road bike? Carrera TdF Ltd Edition in yellow - medium frame size?

Only want £150 for it, which is what I paid for it a few weeks ago before discovering that a) it's too small for me, and b) the e-wheel won't fit on.

The mans has picked up the M3 and driven it off into the sunset, leaving me with just the chavmobile.

So, I now have just over £7,000 burning a hole in my skyrocket. Do I pay off debts (the sensible option) or buy another wildly impractical money pit?

Of only there were a way you could spend just a bit of that money on a wildly impractical money pit quality vehicle.

It is (semi)-auto, and I have noticed there is a clunk from the front of the car when I go from drive to neutral, or from having my foot on the accelerator to not. Any one know if this is normal for an auto? Anything to worry about?

I'd get it looked at, could be an engine mount away or exhaust touching or something simple like that.

meant to say at the time, but this was an engine mount, and it took them 2 days to diagnose with the car in front of them, so top diagnosis KW!

The reason I remembered is because I have just had another engine mount replaced and a shock absorber.
Still, that is why I got a car with a warranty.

Fine looking cars, the 6 series.

Over on Briskoda.net one of the regulars with far more money than sense has transplanted a 2.5 TFSI engine from a TT-RS into a Skoda Yeti - 510 bhp in a small SUV is "interesting".

When I was at school, one of my mate's brothers and his friends put a large Cosworth engine into a Ford Popular and (I forget all the details), it was rear wheel drive. It could pull wheelies!

So, car issue!
Auris '13 1.6 semi automatic, taken it into Toyota twice now over a noise:
1) upon starting in the morning, I take a right turn from a T-junction accelerating to ~30mph.
2) When I accelerate I here a clunk from the front of the car
3) as I straighten out, and decrease acceleration, there is a series of clunks (~4). These are sufficient to be felt through the accelerator.
4) I only occasionally encounter this on other occasions, but I have heard it when accelerating in a 'straight' line, and also when going over a pot-hole.
5) there are also a number of other clunks, bumps and rattles; these often seem to come from the rear of the car. No idea if they are related, but they most commonly occur on speed hump/pothole.

Toyota have changed all four engine mounts, albeit in batches of 2 by 2 and there was ~4000 miles between the top 2 and the bottom 2, and the top two were changed for a different noise.
They also changed a shock absorber - I don't know which one, there was no paper work as it was done under warranty.

Does anyone have any idea what this might be, as Toyota don't appear to be able to even hear noise, never mind fix it?

My money would be on suspension components. Not sure what the Auris' setup is like, but track rod ends and lower arm bushings go on my Celica all the time and cause similar noises - although the setup on the Celica is quite "exotic" so it may just be a quirk to my setup.

You'd like to think so. However, in my experience, most main dealer "technicians" are just glorified parts-swappers, they rarely do any actual repairs or "manual" diagnosis - they just usually plug it into their diagnostic machine and replace whatever the computer says is wrong.

You could always try taking it to a trusted local independent garage and see what they think it might be?

don't have one, sadly.
It is due a service at another garage though.

Would those parts be covered by warranty?

I wouldn't have thought so, they're usually classed as consumable items.

Some talk on a Toyota forum of there being an "ABS self test" that occurs when the car first goes over 5-10mph which can cause front clunking sounds. If it happens repeatedly on the same journey I doubt it's that, though?

Hmm, could be that. I am going to try a few things, but it does seem to be acceleration related. Bastard cars.

Bobbyaro. Your starsign is clunkitarius.

Someone you know has a mental car with nonsense suspension (superstrut gaz?)

You must demonstrate your problems to your local garage, different driving styles mean your noises may not be evident to others.

This week expect noises to be coming from your strut top bearings. Clunks will become boooiiiings in your near future.

Alternatively your crazy semiautomatic gearbox is about to go bang, hopefully not.

Try dry steering the car lock to lock whilst stationary to clarify your issues.

Jupiter is on the cusp which means dealer technicians rarely give a shit, find a greasy looking bloke with mad hair and have him sort it.

Also contemplate cv joints although that's usually more of a click.

For a complete car noob, what does a strut top bearing look like and do?

I done made a recording - you will almost certainly need headphones (if anyone cares to listen)!
@ 19s I apply the accelerator and you here a clunk as force is applied, I then turn right and back off the accelerator @ 21s and you hear the clunks again, but louder.

Does this sound like the suspension/strut top bearings/etc?
