Has anyone else tried this shit? I've got some in front of me on the desk and I think I'm going to struggle to finish it. Looking at the ingredients, it's no surprise - Mustard seeds? MACE??!
I thought I was on to a winner with the first swig as it reminded me of those cola flavoured Mr.T ice lollies you used to get, but the more of it I drink the more I hate it. Waste of a bloody quid >:(

I think it's really nice, plus it has the added bonus of you being able to throw it in a rapist's face.

I like the design of the can, but that's about the only nice thing I can think to say about it. Is it supposed to give you a bit of a lift like normal Red Bull or is it purely a vile cola at an extortionate price in a fancy can?

They decided selling over a billion cans a year wasn't enough, I suppose.

Who the hell puts it in coke, though? The same weirdos in Speakeasy in Nottingham who thought someone would actually ask for gin and coke, I guess..

No, it's just plain cola.

On a semi-related note, I started drinking Red Bull in the evenings to stop me from falling asleep in my car on the M25 and killing lots of people on my way home from work nowadays and am getting increasingly worried that I'm starting to get a taste for this drink I once found to be utterly vile. Does anyone else like normal Red Bull or is it just sick old me?

Red Bull is lovely, but I tend to get Relentless if I'm feeling the taste. You get way more for cheaper.

It is an acquired taste, yes. A vodka redbull is now a drink of choice for me if I don't fancy a beer of any variety.

That's a piss-take, it even says 'a stimulating refreshment' on the back. I might get my grandad to write a letter.

Eugh Relentless, a mate got given several crates of it in a promo and we were drinking it for weeks, just the smell of it makes me feel a bit sick now.

It's always tasted like cough medicine to me, which probably explains why I've had a bottle of the Thai rocket fuel sitting on my shelf in my office for nearly three years. That's the stuff that contains the full fat illegal to sell in Europe red bull, whatever the hell it is that's in it, it is like doing a fat line of blow.

Is caffeine not a stimulant?

Oh yeah, it does appear to have caffeine in it. No Taurine though, so it's a bit misleading calling it Red Bull.

They do advertise it as 'strong and natural' on their ad campaign, however.

Well it's certainly not what I'd called a 'Strong' flavour. Anyway, when the word 'Strong' is used in collaboration with the Red Bull brand, I expect it to have me climbing the walls with wild, staring eyes and a foaming mouth. Disappointing.

Ah, I think the mistake you've made there is, you appear to have been guided by 'branding' and advertisement copy, in selection of a product.

Wow - that's the first time I've made the link between Taurine and Red Bull.

Wiki sez "Despite being present in many energy drinks, it has not been proven to be energy-giving.". So the presence of it or otherwise in a supposedly energy giving drink is neither here nor there.

Also I'm going to assume it's not actually made from Bull..

Next you'll be saying you didn't realise that the Red Bull and Toro Rosso Formula One teams were run by the same people, cuh!

Well there's defintely something in Red Bull that gives a bit of a kick. I used to drink Diet Coke behind the wheel as I used to despise Red Bull, but the latter definitely does a better job of keeping me awake (and my car and limbs in one piece).

Just so you all know, I can usually be found driving from junctions 16 - 20 around 6pm Mondays to Fridays, so you might want to avoid that spot in future! ;)

I really like it, it's a mile better than the artifical crap that is Coke.

Not as good as Whole Earth, the king of Colas of course.

A few years ago the drink/pill combo of the fashion mavens was Diet Coke and Feminax. It does give you a tangible kick, I've tried it.

TBH, if you need Red Bull to stay awake, you perhaps shouldn't be driving in the first place.

I do wholeheartedly agree, and as soon as a cheap teleporter is released on public sale, I shall stop.

Seriously though, I'm never as bad as I'm perhaps making out, but having a can of Red Bull open in the car next to me does tend to help me stay alert. The M25 leg of my evening commute is truly excruciatingly dull most nights and the whole commute/job experience is keeping me fairly tired all the while as it is.

I've been known to pop a pro plus for night driving 'to be on the safe side'. Not because I feel too tired to drive, but because I'd rather not start feeling too tired half way around the M25.

I have one in the fridge. Hoozah.

Also, I plan to to have a stash at my wedding reception. Just for me and like-minded friends. I wouldn't want to waste them on everyone.

I do long distances (not so often lately) and if you got up at 4am and are driving home feeling abit low and shit, it's safer to get a big coffee or a Red Bull to perk you up. I don't think I've been in danger of falling asleep but I have been conscious of my alertness levels dropping.

In those circumstances you are best off stopping and having something to perk you up.

Also, Balmars is at 1.40 for a pint at Tesco express atm...

Mind you, your having no taste has it's upside as it means there's one less bugger buying it so all the more for me.

I quite like the lemonade, dandelion & burdock and ginger beer, but I can't get on with the cola at all.

I tried Fentimans cola for the first time yesterday. Just a bit. Rather "interesting" flavour, quite unexpected. Couldn't describe how it tastes, but certainly wasn't like your average cola type drink.

The shandy was excellent and suprisingly full-tasting too. Niiiiiiiice.

Bleugh is an understatement - my word it's disgusting innit? Luckily mine was a free sample. Dunno why they thought it was a good idea to augment coke with more caffeine anyways - it's like sticking extra jalapenos on a vindaloo.

I never used to drink Red Bull because I thought it had Toluene in it and not Taurine (I misheard obv).

Toluene is an octane booster that found use in the Turbo-era Formula 1 cars that enabled them to produce 1000+ bhp.

And also one of the Ts in TNT.

It also masterminded the Sicilian mob for over two decades.

I like red bull, it tastes quite nice. But I very rarely drink it for the taste, and at least part of the appeal is probably psychosomatic - I associate it now with feelings of massive relief, because 95% of the times I've used it, it's been the only thing that kept me from passing out and losing my job.

I never hated it, though, as a lot of people seem to. The Irn Bru knock-off version is kind of nice, too.
