This was a bit of a clue as to my identity, as I've said elsewhere on the board that this is the song I open up DJ sets with.


No need to apologise, that's more that fair enough. They're both rare(ish), more bouncy versions of the chart songs.


I honestly thought everyone in the world liked Ugly Kid Joe. Colour me surprised.


Surprised you haven't heard Country Girl before, it's one of their biggest recent songs. It was all over the radio a year or two ago.


This was mainly on there because it's quite a rare remix (rare in the sense that no-one seemed to know the whole album was redone)

This is one of the best songs they've done, IMO. I loved the rhythm guitar over the chorus. I also didn't realise that I had two tracks by "The Park".

Cor. Hybrid are widely congratulated for doing the best-produced house music in existence, they use real orchestras and everything. It's not surprising it made you think of TV, everyone uses their music - not an episode of Top Gear goes by without some Hybrid in.

It's an outro by Fiddy Cent, and is there for it's high comedy value.

Nah, if someone goes to the effort to make a mix for me, I listen to it quite a bit. Out of courtesy. I didn't realise you DJ'ed. The mix makes more sense now - I could imagine not minding that mix half as much at a party or in a bar/club, but not on my iPhone while I'm walking the dogs or sitting in my office painting.

Would you be terribly offended if I shortened that quote to just the last line?

I've no idea who Ugly Kid Joe is, but I quite like this.

I'm not sure about software that auto mixes, but if you're willing to put a bit of time and a wee bit of effort into it Ableton Live is excellent, it does the beat matching side of things for most tracks so all you have to do is set cue points and fade between songs, loops, etc.

I was meant to find that program to do the auto mixes but my home PC has been out of action for a couple of days due to decorating!

So Grim had a version of the Futurama theme on his mix. Reminded me that Elfman pretty much borrowed the whole tune from Psyche Rock by music concrete pioneer Pierre Henry. Henry's version is from 1967.

Most people will have heard Fatboy Slim's typically witless yet effective remix.

But anyways, I know I'm new here, but did anybody listen to my slightly over-long online mixtape? Any vitriolic eviscerations comments or criticism would be, I'm sure, fascinating.

This is entirely due to the fact that some people think it's clever to record their albums so that Track A runs slightly over into Track B. Ah AnonX has problems with their CD drive being buggered so they haven't been able to do anything. I did tell him to at least make Mp3 mixes but the computer woes have probably been too much. Pete has no excuse and shall be executed at dawn.

Anon X hasn't said anything about receiving mine either, which I presume to be related.

Knowing that these scoundrels have been outed is justice enough for me.

Firstly sorry, I think I caused the confusion about how often this would happen, I used to exchanged a lot of music with friends, but don’t get chance anymore, in fact I only really listen to the radio… so I got a bit enthusiastic – I’m happy to go along with what everyone else wants to do.

Secondly, thanks for both CDs, I will listen to them both again and I’ve really enjoyed taking part in this, so a big thank you to Nirehenje too!

An Excellent CD

Well I’d only popped into the house for a few minutes before doing the school run when I found this waiting for me, so I took it to the car with the teenagers in tow.

Slipped the disc in and BIG GRIN, dunno why I’d expected everyone to go with more mainstream stuff. Oh and a ‘What’s this supposed to be?’ off the kids. No taste some people.

Track one – weird really, I used to listen to this sort of stuff, but I’ve stopped the last few years, just a change of taste I suppose, still made me smile though.

Track two – Made me laugh loads, kids just kept on looking at each other and shaking their heads (as it should be…).

Track three – Love it! Can’t listen to it all of the time, but it’s great ‘getting things done’ music and jumping around the house.

Track four – Reminds me of someone, but I really can’t place who… not too bad though, sounds a bit glam rock.

Track five – Bit country and Weston, but I enjoyed it.

Track six – Chilled out and relaxing music, lyrics to associate with, can’t be bad.

Track seven – Bizarre.

Track eight – I found myself singing along to this Catchy and fun, *dances*

Track nine – Slow, chilled out summer relaxing sort of stuff – that I could fall asleep to!

Track ten – I’m sure I’ve heard this before. A bit shouty for my liking and repetitive ‘music’, shame as the lyrics could be quite good.

Track eleven – #So glad you’re miiiiiiine…#

Track twelve – Couldn’t really get into this one, felt like I was straining to hear what she was saying for a lot of the time apart for the chorus. Wanted her to go and jump…

Track thirteen – Good start, goes a bit ‘normal’ then ‘different’.

Track fourteen – Erm… Ah! I’ve heard this before just without the talking part at the beginning (or if I have I don’t remember it).

Track fifteen – Hmm, more shouting, funny though, it’s exactly the sort of thing I would have been bouncing around in mosh pit to not five years ago, I must be getting old. *sighs*

Track sixteen – Oooh, I like this one Good driving tune.

Track seventeen – Another chilled out one, I can imagine listening to it on a summer day sipping wine in the back garden. But not something I’d go out of my way to listen to to be honest. Edit: The more I listen to this the more I like it..

Track eighteen – I had no idea who this was but all three of the kids did (I thought it was funny) which is scary considering I was listening to his stuff before any of them were born!

Be Mixellent to Each Other

Track one – Starts off nice and chilled. Hmm, I’m not too fond of female vocals; don’t ask me why because I have NO idea. Sounds familiar, but I don’t know if I actually know who it might be.

Track two – Ooh, this sounds like the start of a Freezepop song, yes, I like it – even if I can’t fully explain why.

Track three – Argh, again sounds familiar and I can’t place it!!! Also sounds a bit Lily Allen. And they sound really young!

Track four – quite dance-y but laid back and chilled too, again seems like a summer tune (I want a long cold alcoholic drink now!). Like it.

Track five – Like the lyrics, but found the music a bit too slow in places, it was sending me to sleep.

Track six – Wasn’t expecting the change part way through, nice and chilled, but reminded me too much of the relaxation CDs I’ve used, until that bloke butted in, spoke too much like he was rapping for me to be honest.

Track seven – Love this on a few levels! It could be the BEEX theme tune, or mine.. Sounded a bit like Tenacious D in parts, but that’s not a negative.

Track eight – A song I wouldn’t mind listening to, but probably wouldn’t choose for myself, so it’s ok.

Track nine – Well I don’t dislike it, but I feel like I was waiting for it to start.

Track ten – Heh, works quite well actually.

Track eleven – Nice and ‘boppy’ at first, and I liked the lyrics too quite clever really, certainly made me smile in more than a few places!

Track twelve – It’s just like being back in Ibiza I feel like I should be drunk to listen to this.

Track thirteen – I found myself nodding my head and tapping my foot to this straight away, I like the song anyway, but I like this version certainly.

Track fourteen – Very dreamy, seemed a bit too much love song for the music, like the lyrics don’t fit.

Track fifteen – Heh, sounds like the opening for a show, Lion King maybe? Sounds like something that should be listened to through speakers whilst travelling at speed. I know what I mean.

Track sixteen – Quite like this one, actually the more I listen to it the more I like it. *bops*

Track seventeen – Like this one, well until the end when it seems to go a bit funny, but yeah, it’s ok.

Track eighteen – Sounds like Rammstein, even if it isn’t, I want to get the old albums out now! Not too sure about the other bits of the song though.

Track nineteen – Nice bit to finish on, but nothing special.

Overall I mostly liked it, I was going to put it in the car, but I think some bits of it might be too chilled out. I do have a story about the CD, Chloe lay down on the bed with me the first time I listened to it and I put the visualisations on, we were both asleep within minutes. I suggest you send a copy of the CD to Mr Chris and Zardoz immediately!

Starting with...

Understandable. Good too because what most people have heard of Delerium are the remixed ones that entered the chart. You may remember this. I think I included the video for the single version of After all on the DVD, I'd recommend that based on your comments here and on track 12.



It pre-dates the commercial success of said band but I see your point. It's rough as hell but a testament to what you can achieve with no talent whatsoever and a uni bedroom in 1997 as a studio.



Then I suggest heading to their site, one of the old promos they now offer for download is called "Drink Drink Drink"....

As you'll see from the text I <3 them Satellite Junkyard is in my top 3 albums of the year.



I did feel I chose the wrong track for these guys, if you check the DVD, Endless Ocean was there until the very last second...

You really did write this before checking the tracklisting. Rammstein is indeed one half of this track. The other half is.... not a traditional duet partner for them...



To be fair I cheated here, again as you'll have discovered since from the DVD, it's not actually designed to have ever been heard on its own ever.

I'm especially pleased that you've inadvertently liked the tracks from 2 bands that everyone else knows as one hit wonders (and both with songs considered widely irritating as hell). I'm remaining vague here because I'm going to blank the track names and upload the CD to see if I get any more people, especially with 7,8,10,11,12,15 and 18...

What I forgot to mention Duds was how eager I was to read what was on the DVD, I really enjoyed reading why you'd chosen the tracks and sat with a bit of a soppy smile on my face after reading it!

Buh? I just popped into this thread to say that while I realise I'm way too late to take part in the current CD mix swap (that'll teach me to spend some time away from here, I guess), I'll happily put my name forward in advance if it all kicks off again. Will there be another thread if so?

In relation to Myoptika's original question, if you want a bit more control over your mixing (and want a freeware solution), I think Audacity might be what you're looking for.
