Sexual harassment "necessary to continue human race"

A Russian judge has decided that sexual harassment in the workplace is necessary to continue the human race.

A twenty two year old advertising executive had brought a claim of sexual harassment against her forty seven year old boss. She alleged that she had been locked out of her office after refusing to have sex with him and that he would ask female colleagues to signal "with their eyes that they desperately wanted to be laid on the boardroom table".

The judge dismissed the case stating that what the employee had seen as harassment was in fact just gallant behaviour. In his ruling the judge told the court that "without sexual harassment we would have no children" and dismissed the case as an overreaction on the woman's part.

Only two women in Russia have won a sexual harassment case since the collapse of the Soviet Union

Guh, that's incredibly depressing.

It reminds me of the time my friend was telling me that some Japanese politician encouraged rape victims (in 'the moment') to "try to enjoy it". Apparently it's extremely difficult to get a rape case to court over there, and the sentences are often a matter of weeks.

Judge is a dick of course but he does have a point, without wishing to pick on him, Grim... used to pick up by being a bit of an arrogant shit (including of course his now wife). It's a fine line between that and what some would call harassment.

I have nothing at all against sleepig one's way to the top - why bother grafting your arse off for years to stand a chance of management when you can suck a cock for five minutes and get a guaranteed promotion? It just doesn't make sense, and there's no point trying to drag integrity into the argument, this is business we're talking about, here.

Agreed, but there are many things in this country that stop a woman from being in work too. Up until about three, nearly four years ago now, being a single parent meant that any unskilled job I did changed my income by about £1 a week - it really wasn't worth it to me. Now thankfully the benefits system has changed enough foe it to benefit me to work however menial.

I'm not saying it's the same thing of course, just pointing out that there are many ways, in many weston countries that people can get screwed over (if you'll excuse the term) when they want to work and contribute to society.

I do agree that the welfare system needs a MASSIVE overhaul. I for onr cannot wait for the day when I'm not even entitled to child tax credits, but being on a single wage that will take some time. However I am very aware of those out there that are happy to sit on their arses all day for the rest of their lives and can.
