I got letter of the day from The Fiver back when they were giving away "an album plucked from the mountain of CDs under which the Guardian Music desk is buried".

They sent me a Van Morrison CD.

Why is the URL bbcode breaking all the time recently?

Gaywood's isn't working because he's a chimp, but Plissken's looked fine?

Why are none of the [url] tags working for me? I've changed no options.

I have done nothing exciting.

My non-exciting endeavours include having a sister who was on Record Breakers breaking a world record (along with a few hundred other people). Having a step-sister who was on Dragons' Den. Having been in a stage play with comedian and writer Dave Gorman.

Oooh! And I was a UK Outdoor National Junior Ultimate Frisbee Champion!

(also, well done Plissken. The Fiver is ace)

I've done lots of stuff with lots of bands you haven't heard of, appeared on Border news(I think, it was in Carlisle) enthusing about how great 1986 was("Slayer, man! Mayhem! Awesome year!") and have genuinely impressed people on CoD 4 by having The Former Richard Gaywood on my friends list. Ooo, and I had a letter printed in Autosport magazine when I was about 8.

Yup. Exciting.

Oh, and a couple of things in the 'over by over' crisket coverage the grauniad ran years back.

I was almost on Highway (that Songs of Praise forerunner with Harry Secombe) in about 1988. They were filming an episode at the church in town, and filmed some footage at our school of our class coming out of the classroom holding our mum's hands. I'm pretty sure I didn't make it onto the final edit, they cut to a different shot just before I came out of the door :(

Guess that means he is no longer one of the clubs spokespersons. A shame as he is one of the few ex-footballers with a brain. Always thought he would make a good pundit except he always talks sense which kind of rules him out. Watching the likes of Shearer and Wright on the BBC proves that being articulate and intelligent bars you from ever appearing on the pundits sofa.

Um, well, someone mentioned you during a match, I said "Yup, it's all true. I even got mentioned on his blog once" and some people went "Oooooo!" in what sounded like sincere impressediveness.

Possibly they just thought I was gay, too.

It wasn't the forerunner to Songs Of Praise. Highway was a direct competitor shown against it on ITV.

Are in the OBO collection for the 2005 Ashes that they released as a book?

I think I am on the infamous page 94.

I had a painting selected for an exhibition on War at Chapter art gallery in Cardiff (it's an affiliate of the ICA), when I was 15 - you think I would have taken the hint and pursued that as a career instead of photography.

Still, there's nothing like the present to make amends.

They still run the OBO. They even got Rob Smyth back in for this series!

I've had about a zillion emails published. I once had a competition with my brother to see if one of us could get the first email published in each session. We failed individually, but got there between us, as I got two and he got the other.

All my claims to fame would be meeting people, or touching them, which isn't interesting, sorry.

Although I used to run a site called Britain Against Computers which got me a full page write up and interview in PC Format one time.

earthtone9. I wasn't actually in the band, though. I just managed to get my photo in the magazines a few times due to working for them.

I almost did join in a bizarre twist, but that's a completely different story.

I had a piss with Michael Grade on one side and Mark Thompson on the other. While urinating they were having some kind of high level BBC management discussion about what sandwiches they preferred from the buffet.

Lesley Douglas (Controller of Radio 2) had literally ran into me a few moments before. Not a small woman, the first I knew of it I was rebounding from her cleavage while she apologised profusely.

Also had a chat with the guy who was in charge of the event we were working at that day about video editing who later ended up heading the review into corruption in football. Lord someone or other. Nice chap, always came to have a chat to us despite us merely being "crew".

Oh and obviously there was the whole James Caan thing a few weeks back which nobody believed.

I do have some "by proxy" claims to fame, as well, mainly through my uncle. He's friends with Billy Bragg, Phill Jupitus and Andy Kershaw, having met them at Leeds Uni during the 80s.

He also had a band who released an album with Chris Haskett from the Rollins Band playing guitar and Jez Willis from Utah Saints playing bass on it.

Every time we have a claim to fame thread, it turns into a "famous people I've met" thread instead. Sillies.

I've met quite a few people because I worked in a TV studio and also a radio station. I guess the most famous were most of the cast of Friends, but the nicest was Diana Rigg, who I interviewed at the theatre.

I don't think there's a single thing of note about me. I don't have any claims to fame, and I have an excellent ability to go unnoticed through life.

I think I need to stop being shy. And also start being a winner and awesome.

Surely though if Grim... was to stand at the top of Grim... Towers everyone in the UK would be able to see him from wherever they are?
