If you are a fan of bad football, then you must watch the Monday Night Football high?lights tonight on Eurosport.

Terrible passing, running, special teams (including a defensive tackle returning a kickoff), it had it all. Excellent fun all round.

It was horrifying. I gave up at 4 am because it was the worst game of Throwball I've ever seen.

I don't get what the Vikings were thinking. Take Josh Freeman, throw him on the field after 12 days. Ponder is terrible, but at least he should know what routes his WRs are running. Then they had Freeman throw 50 times.

Yes, excellent game plan wasn't it? I loved the way Gruden was finding so many ways to say "WTF are the Vikings doing?"

Do any of the throwball fans watch the league?

Season 5 is airing now I find it quite interesting when they are talking about games that have just happened for some reason.

Well that's strange, the Rams have just tried to woo Favre out of retirement

I need to actually go and watch a game if I'm ever to get a grip on what's going on. Jolly good fun though, and we really need to switch to 'Jerusalem' or 'Land of Hope & Glory' for these events. 'God save the Queen' was even more of a dirge than usual.

On Danny Baker's programme a few weeks ago they had a Football (Association) historian on. The term 'scrimmage' comes from the line of footballers who would effectively form a 'flying wedge' formation in front of the player with the ball. From his description of football in the mid 1800's it seems it would look more like American football than the Football that was eventually codified in the Laws of Association Football.

...Also.

Am I the only person who thinks a London franchise is a really bad idea?

Thanks for that. It kind of makes sense as the 'point of departure' between rugby, football, and other games happened around 150 years ago.

I knew that I couldn't be the only one....but you'd think it was a unanimous decision if you only listened to the UK based media (of course they have everything to gain from more London NFL games and / or a London NFL franchise).

If you have access to Sky then stick on the Philadelphia game (Sky Sports 3). They are playing in at least 3 inches of snow and it is hysterical.

Indeed. The snow collecting capabilities of helmets proved to cause some amusement round these parts.

Absolutely hilarious. Nobody can catch, kick or tackle! The fourth quarter scores around the league are amazing.

The Bengals are crazy. We have seen classic Bungles debacles, we have seen amazeballs.

Mind you, the season as a whole has been mental.

Memo to the Patriots. Last minute drives to win the game don't always work and sometimes the refs won't give you a soft pass interference flag.

Epic Manning face from Eli, btw. 5 interceptions.

Peyton Manning has broken the single season passing yardage record, to go with the single season passing touchdown record. The Broncos also now own the single season team scoring record.

In the correct thread, this time.

If Buffalo could pull off a freak comeback here and beat New England, that would be hilarious and would give the Bengals a bye week!

(I think)

Yes!

That normally means we lose.

But I am expecting our Special Teams to continue to make up for Andy Dalton's erratic radar.

My Play-off picks: Wild Card Weekend

Saints @ Eagles: Eagles. Dome team outside in Philly in January. Bad news for Brees and the Saints.

Chiefs @ Colts: Colts. Chiefs are good, but lost all their actual meaningful games against playoff teams this season.

49ers @ Packers: 49ers. Even though they're going into Lambeau in January, 49ers can get things done. Packers didn't look too hot against a terrible Bears team.

Chargers @ Bengals: Bengals. Despite Andy Daltons... inconsistent performance, the Chargers only scraped up a win in OT against the Chiefs B team. I can't see them having any success against the Bengals D, and won't stop their O.

Chargers, Packers, Chiefs and Saints fans: I've just jinxed your opponents. Enjoy the second round.

Andy Reid does it again....He's like the manager who can consistently get a team out of the Championship but who can't deal with the Premier League.

So, teams I wanted to win - Bengals, Chiefs, Eagles.

On that basis, things aren't looking too rosy for the Packers.

Three of the four games were pretty engrossing, although everyone in this round is obviously flawed. Shame the Bengals couldn't get their shit together because fuck Flip Rivers.

I'd say Pats, Broncos, Panthers and Seahawks will win. I really can't see Norleans beating the hawks, but one can hope.
