What no Olympics thread? It's already bloody started, what with the women's football yesterday, and now the men's today.

I'm watching the diving at the moment. The men's sybchro diving. Good it is. It was lashing it down in the women's hockey yesterday.

I was surprised Drogba and Ronaldo didn't make it through to the final stages.

The partner of our new golden boy isn't happy about missing out on a medal

Meanwhile Andy Murray is out of the singles.

Americans never learn.

Bit like that snowboarder in the Winter Olympics.

That is genuinely amusing. You'd think he would have read the rule book in the four years he was training for this, wouldn't you?

yesterday, the waterfall of reality was crossed. Russia, was playing Georgia at Beach volleyball, in China, and the Georgian players were in fact, Brazilians, to the soundtrack of the Ramones and Put your hands up for detroit...

Georgia won.

Our equestrian teams did very well again, which was nice. Maybe in 2012 they'll even get to be on the telly :)

Sadly just about everyone else other than the swimming lady did shit.

Our much-heralded judo team all lost, as did most of our boxers and out badminton pair.

It's a good job that they'll start giving out medals in the rowing, sailing and cycling soon, as we're mostly crap at everything else!

Quite right. People have been playing badminton and beach volleyball for far longer than they've been riding horses.

Oh, hang on...

Also - is there anywhere I can watch the clay pigeon shooting? There was no coverage on the BBC :(

Your best bet is it being on one of the twelve streams of the EBU, although I thought clays had finished?

Coverage here:

http://www.eurovisionsports.tv/olympics/

Handy guide, can be filtered by discipline here:

http://html.ebu.ch.edgesuite.net/olympi ... index.html

For shooting tomorrow you've got men's 25m rapid fire pistols at 4:00 and men's skeet at 7:00.

Sitting down sports in effect now so plenty of Team GB potential to move up the medal table.

People have been building fires for longer than they've been riding those awful, smelly, ugly creatures that are known as horses. Doesn't mean that fire-building should be in the Olympics.

I'd accept 'ugly toffs on ugly beasts' into the Olympics if other sports, for example motorbike trials, were let in.

Weightlifter in the super heavyweight category. Bloke lost his wife in a car crash last year, promised to win gold, does so, goes quite merrily apeshit when he makes the winning lift.

Really nice to see that kind of emotion instead of some rehearsed celebration.

I saw that; it was awesome. The people at work were watching him accept the medal whilst holding up a picture of hsi wife, and were joking that he was a sad git for doing it. They were having a rgiht laugh until told them the real story... at which point everything went quiet and I felt kinda bad for bringing everyone down.

Life and soul, me...

Astoundingly, they've changed the result on appeal. Our lass goes through.

Apparently one of our male taekwando competitiors was cheated yesterday as well by the judges.

It is all kicking off, quite literally, in the taekwando.

First off, our lass gets done out of a win by the judges who award the bout to the no doubt coincidentally Chinese double Olympic champion.

Our lot protest. It is upheld. Our girl goes through to the semi.

She then loses, blames lack of prep.

She then fights back (ha!) for bronze.

Then the blokes take to the mat. Cuban gets knocked down. The referee allows the maximum 60 seconds for recovering and awards the bout to the opponent. The Cuban then gets up, pushes the referee, kicks one of the judges in the head before spitting on the mat.

Best kick of the competition, right there. I'm sure the commentators were trying not to piss themselves laughing while going through the whole 'disgraceful' thing.

Was the sound crap in the ending ceremony when Leona and Jimmy Paige did their bit, or is it just iPlayer?

That show was pretty decent, I thought.

It certainly could have been a hell of a worse. And it made a nice change from the mass choreography of the Chinese.
