Also, lovely memory and intelligence there Dr, that'll put you in good stead for all future skill learning. What's your learning skillrate/hour? I'm currently at 1361, fwiw.

That was the plan, yes. I'm getting 1248 sp/hr. I need those learning skills.

I wished I'd realised before setting up my profile. I normalised all of my attributes to the same number using my 5 optional points at the start. so I started off with everything on 7.

You'd better get your arse back online at 1pm.

Meanwhile I've just had the most exciting 45 minutes of my EVE life so far. An eve radio DJ was a running a competition. The first one to find and buff his ship won 60 million isk.

He gave out clues to his location, first the region, then the constellation, then the system. I managed to crack the clues and warp 8 jumps to the right system, which unfortunately is massive. With no further clues I warped to every station, and then to every asteroid field, and then started on the planets (of which there were 10), and then moons (of which there were shitloads), but I didn't make it in time, lost out by about 5 minutes. Gah!

When I did eventually find the fucker I buffed his ship good, damnit.

Anyway, back to work. Cursed radio.

Think of poor Kate!

By doing so, I am. When I work lates I don't have to be in work until 2pm, hence I can stay up really late... while she has to go to bed at about 11. So, by not playing this until those two weeks of lates, she won't be deprived of me due to my playing it as I'll just wait until she goes to bed.

What of poor Ange? Are you going to buy a job lot of wine boxes, and when she bursts into your little hideyhole...

INT - Night. Myoptika's little games/guitar/GTA maps room.

ANGE bursts in the door, raging.

ANGE: MATT! You're playing the fucking spaceships game again! You never come and talk to me any more! What the f...

MYOPTIKA, without taking his eyes off the screen, reaches into a crate filled with boxes o wine, and holds one out to her.

ANGE: WINE!

ANGE seizes the box, bites a hole in the side and leaves the room, pouring the contents into her mouth.

MYOPTIKA winces as he gets podded again.

Sitting listening to EvE Radio - both myself and Comical doing missions.

Comical - "This DJ says Win far too much."

*Sheepeh sends message

EvE Radio - DJ Wiggles (Live on air) - "I've just had a message from Sheepeh telling to to say ComicalGnomes is so, so not win. Win."

Ace.

He then proceeded to change the word "Win" for "banana" at Com's request.

Spent Sat just hooning around, reading about the game, planning skills, that sort of thing. Did one or two low-level missions and helped some other folks on similarly easy missions, whilst listening to Sheepeh and CG discussion salvage and trading runs worth ten times what I have in my wallet. Spent Sunday afternoon mining in my new Ibicus, made 300K or so for myself. Then we all went mining Sunday evening, very disappointing haul -- despite scouting a dozen fields we found only low-grade minerals. We made 2 mill or so. It was in 0.5 space and we had pirates and I had to warp my pathetic little tub away for repair and everything.

2 million ain't bad, though, is it?

And I was always skint in EvE, but, I have a plan to switch the router from WPA PSK to WEP and see if my computer can work with that.

Generally, AI doofus ships are called "rats". "Pirate" is usually reserved for player scum like Mali A (and is probably the most polite thing people would call him)

Well, it took over two hours, so it's not great as it took six of us. Sheepeh and CG can make money at 5x that rate working by themselves. The actual mining was carried out by myself, Eggwan, and MyFinger though (i.e. the frigate-wielding n00bs) so we were holding things back. Grim... has just informed me he has a proper mining barge, so if he'd been about it would have probably helped.

Hopefully us new players are not far off being able to fend off NPC pirates in 0.5-sec systems; I think my next ship would be up to it. If that happens, it'd make more sense for us to be the combat ones, whilst the richer people with massive strip mining laser arrays do the mining.

I knew that actually, but forgot to use the jargon, ta.

Impressively, even though I was doing it remotely and using autopilot, I didn't end up dead (possibly because you weren't playing ;)), even after eight runs. I am now rather rich again :)

I think my EVE material wealth, from four years, is 20million isk total, a smattering of random mods, my Shaguar, Hawk and Hound frigates. I do have some more frigates, but they're apparently still in a hangar in a space station that's owned by some people who would probably kill my face off now.

If you plan a break from EVE, make sure and transport your shiny stuff out of 0.0 first.

I have a procurer mining barge that I bought last week, totally ignorant to the fact that I couldn't (and still can't) fly it. So it's sitting there until I get around to learning the appropriate skills.

The Gaywood shouldn't overstate my earning capability. I've managed to turn around a few marketplace deals to earn a few mill, but viable items are in short supply, so it's a variable thing. It's particularly hard when you haven't got any trading skills at all, like me :)

What about trade goods though? I don't think I'm going to be good enough at crafting, yet, to be any cop at making much beyond ammo but it doesn't hurt to look at blueprint costs and run the numbers. What goods have you been running on these trade routes?

I was always rather poor, until a Crow decided to have a pop at my Vexor one day as i was travelling somewhere. It gropped a Gistii Shield Boost Mod (and an impressive amount of smacktalk), and I flogged that for 100million ish. Then, after a small (3-5billionish) corp theft from someone in my corp's alt, my share was 100 million. So, that bought a few ships (Arazu, Pilgrim, Deimos) and the rest went into trading fund to make more isk. I think I've 160million ish when I stopped. Ships, now, I dunno, probably a job lot of ishkurs and Vengeances.

Yus.

Ratting is the main carebear activity.

Ratting and mining are the two main carebear activities.

Ratting, mining and smacking in local are the three main carebear activities...

I can't shake the feeling that every thread in this board is about EVE in some way.

"Holy fucking shit.... I've made 100mill on a massive trade run". "Norfolk enchants.... with its array of high-yield asteroid belts. "Game VI Day 1... skill training completed". "Monday's game... ratting in a 0.5 sec system."
