Does it, like I think it might, have "make fun of the fat kid" scenes? Because I can't really watch movies with that sort of stuff in.

Yes. It does. But the fat kid is, ultimately, teh awesomes, so it's all alright in the end.

Strange movie. At once terrible and brilliant. Most times I side with terrible - except when magic beer is added.

That old woman in it is terrifying.

The music and lighting in it is fantastic though.

I hadn't seen it until about six months ago. Without the rose-tinted specs of childhood, I was only left thinking it was a pretty decent kid's movie filled with all the offensive stereotypes that only the 1980s could still get away with (crazy asian techno-kid, gluttonous fat kid, etc etc)

They can't make Goonies 2. Sloth is dead.

It is a film of the 80s. There are few more 80s movies than The Goonies. It was terrible and wonderful, stupid and intelligent, silly and touching. It had dead bodies and skeletons and booty twaps without a hint of CGI. Kids making daft jokes about stashing drugs and sticking penises on statues on the wrong way.

They'd get a sequel so wrong it would be a crime against humanity.

Leave it be. Leave that one for One-Eyed Willy.

It's a great film, although I avoid admitting it in public lest I come across as some kind of 80's loving Justin-Lee Collins esque twat.

i think it comes down to the fact that the kid is teased, only a couple of times - like when he has to jiggle his belly to be let into the house, but it is always in a very gentle way - he's one of their best friends - they tease each other all of the time - the little Chinese tech geek, because he is a Chinese techy geek, the asthmatic with brace, because he has braces and asthma, the mouthy one, because he is full of nonsense - they all have their weaknesses, they all tease each other for these things, but they are the best of friends, and their weaknesses and fears are what ultimately save the day. They are the outcasts, the Goonies, but they are the heroes.

It's a heartwarming film. I think you should watch it. I think everyone should watch it.

But watch Princess Bride first.

Ah this again. Last time I read about it on Ain't It Cool the premise was a new bunch of kids called "The Groonies" because they mis-heard what the originals were callled. still, it had this awesome reunion photo:

Empire covered this a few months back. Apparantly, there were two suggested concepts for the film -- an animated film with the original cast lending their voices (sounds like that isn't going ahead) and a film that focused on the children of the original cast getting into some similar sort of shenanigans, with the former cast members turning up as their parents (sounds like this one is going ahead). Not a terrible idea, it's all down to the execution.

With breasts that shine right through her top. Odd.

Incidentally I don't recognise more than 3 of those people.

I can only assume you are joking, because you must know that Sean Astin played Mikey in the original.

Nope, had absolutely no idea. Still, at least I was spot on with the 'looks like' eh?

According to IMDB, Sloth died in 1989 from a heart attack brought on by steroid abuse. Blimey.

No, clearly not a terrible idea. Nooo.
"Three guys go out to sea to kill a shark". "Young kids learns to use magic, inherit's father's sword, later blows up space station". "Truckers in space get eaten by a cocklike alien."

Pretty much anything sounds shit reduced to one line. It's all in the execution.

Ah, the joys of thin tops, nylon bras and direct flash. Sooooo many women get caught out with this one. The top she's wearing isn't entirely opaque, the bra is made of some fabric that is obviously more reflective than flesh. Add direct flash, you get to see her bra!
