Link here

Features of this hack include:

Removing the health warning screen
Region free Wii and Gamecube games
Built in "rescue mode"
Removing background music

It's not released yet, but should be soon. Finally I will be able to play my imported Gamecube games again.

eek. I'm too scared to install the homebrew channel for fear of Nintendo updates. Yet here is something that actually modifies the system menu. Well guess how long a barge pole I wouldn't touch this with.

I know the homebrew channel "should" be safe, but my Wii is too important to me to risk losing it.

This is why I wish Nintendo would take the initiative here. If they had region-free as a downloadable option in the shop for example, I'd be sending points their way in a flash. With hacks I'd just be wary that Nintendo would push out a system update that undid the hack or blocked you off altogether.

I'd love the health warning screen to be removed, but the background music doesn't bother me at all.

I've never really thought about hacking or modding my wii too much. I wouldn't want to break it.

OooOOOH! I so wanted to play Harvest Moon the other day but couldn't because of evil Nintendo region lock. Awesome. Awesome to the max.

In a bizarre marketing scheme, Nintendo built many many more than the 1 Wii you own.
If you break it, you can buy another.

The fully locked-down/banned version of Live is still better than the current Nintendo online effort ;)

So what's all this 'I can't come to your poker night because I'm on holiday' bollocks then?

Thread tangent ftw.

I approve of this. (Though you coulda waited until it was released for megasuprise.)

Shame the guy who owns the Wii I'm lending doesn't like modding. (His Xbox isn't softmodded either. THE FOOL.)

I did say sort of.

I like voting goddamn it! (Which I can now return to now I've got my internet back woo!)

And I wouldn't say that Nintendo's online is a pile of poo anymore, it's just very game dependant. So I would say it was only piss poor.

I'd very interested if they can get region-free GCN games on this thing. I'd love to be able to repurchase my favourite Gamecube titles, particularly as NTSC games are cheaper than their PAL equivalents and have 480p...

The current Homebrew channel has a region free launcher in it already. I don't know if it works, mind, as I don't own any GC discs that won't work on my PAL 'Cube.
